Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject Summary| The Internet-of-Things (IoT) is a vision for an internetwork of intelligent, communicating objects such as home appliances, vehicles, factory machines, wearable devices, and various types of sensors. The advancement of this domain brings the solution to the increased problems of our society. The 21st century is facing an important issue that is Road Accidents. Many times people get distracted while driving a car and have an accident. We have come across too many accidents to count and found no real-time measures taken to regulate these accidents and here we are proposing a project that would help in reducing the number of accidents taking place on normal days and especially in a foggy environment. As we all know in Punjab Pakistan there is dense fog mostly in the last of December and in January. Road accidents on highways are increasing day by day (In FOG too) and so there is a need to design a system that allows detecting vehicles on the road. To overcome these accidents, we proposed a hardware-based solution namely, Safecol. Safecol is defined as a collection of sensors, apps, and Bluetooth devices. This system is based on different sensors which help the driver when he/she would be distracted while driving in various kinds of killing weather situations. The advancement in the vehicle(car) industry comes up with the pre-embedded solutions but the previously introduced cars or low budget cars lack the updated safety factor. Lack of any technical support provides a low-cost solution to the common people but also tradeoff their Life safety and security while driving. As mentioned earlier the increased traffic accidents happening on motorways due to dense fog or other weather conditions are the proof. Safecol is the solution with an ultrasonic sensor that detects the object within a specific range and alerts the driver via Bluetooth and also propagates the early information to the associated application. |

Project Objectives| To provide access to a safe, accessible, and affordable sustainable transport system to improve to road safety of humans. |
| To eliminate or rather reduce human stress while driving a car, especially in the fog (smoky weather) by notifying the driver through a Beep Alarm and the mobile app. |
| Advancement in old cars to overcome road accidents. |
| To make driving easier. |
| To provide an affordable road safety solution that is accessible by common people and also to bring the sustainable innovation to society |

Project Implementation Method| The ultrasonic sensor detects if an object is there and calculates the distance if the object is in the range of given range then a Beep sound occurs and alerts the Bluetooth, which shares this information with the mobile and the app. The vibration sensor is activated if the car undergoes an accident and the Arduino activates the GPS module after tracking the location, it sends it to the GSM module and the GSM module sends the location of the driver to one of his emergency contacts. The ultrasonic sensor we have used is set for a distance of 40cm at maximum in this project for design purpose. The app creates an emergency message and waits for 10 sec if the driver is safe and cancels the message otherwise the app has to notify the emergency contact of the location of the driver. To send the location, we use GPS and a GSM module is used to send the location to an emergency contact. |

Benefits of the Project
We believe that comfort, safety, and security are the best reasons to choose this device. This device is constantly aware of the alert and can follow the instructions when the sensor detects any hard problem (like an accident). |
- This project can be embedded in all types of vehicles.
- To get the sustainable Safety factor by minimizing the risk of deaths and accident injuries.
- The main advantage of this system is that it is fully automated. Once you installed it, it does not require any kind of human interaction.
- Make it quicker and easier to maneuver in traffic.
- Could be Reducing reversing accidents by 75%.
