Mobile Robot For Transport Application In Hospital Domain
The proposed robot is assigned to transport goods i.e. food, medicine, and other specimens in the hospital domain. Modern hospitals usually have a transportation department (internal or outsourced) which is responsible for all internal transportation tasks related to the service of the hospital. Besides the transportation department, the time nurses spend on transportation tasks is significant among the other responsibilities. The proposed robot will be able to serve these tasks performed by transportation department and nurses, making the hospital environment advanced.
To design a model that can be used for internal transportation system to improve service quality in the hospital domain. A robot model with rechargeable and backup battery.
The design of the robot will contain sliding shelves. Every shelf will have specific specimens required to be transported inside the hospital. Four tyres will simply be attached at the bottom for mobility. A camera will be attached at the top of the robot. Sonar sensors will be attached on the robotic body for obstacle avoidance. Indoor positioning system (IPS) will be implemented for moving from charging station to any other ward. The indoor positioning system will use GPS module and a GSM module for user interface.
Transportation plays an important role in organizations which has interconnected activities taking place at different locations in the facility for this reason the importance of transportation is felt profoundly in a hospital setting, which includes multiple activities related to patient care at variable distances from each other, requiring a flow of information and goods between these activities.
Hospitals are as ever under growing pressure to provide high-level service to patients with minimal funds. Increased amounts of demand for healthcare services required to be provided in hospitals, accompanied by higher quality measures and limited funds are the key driving forces of the need to re-engineer the logistic systems in hospitals to improve service quality and reduce costs when possible. We intend to design a robot that performs transportation tasks with maximum accuracy in the hospital domain.
The final deliverable will be a mobile robot with sliding shelves.
Robot will be able to avoid obstacles.
The robot will be re-chargeable and re-programmable.
The control will be GSM based.
