Pregnancy is associated with a lot of changes in physical, psychological, and social changes in the life of a concerned woman and her family. Also, she needs the information about her questions which will help her to make better decisions about her and her baby's health during pregnancy. 

Supervision at regular monitoring for a maternity patient is an essential requirement. A lot of physical and psychological changes occur during pregnancy. It is natural that a woman passing through these changes eagerly wants to know about the changing events she experiences in her health. Health professionals are responsible to take care of and manage any risk to her satisfaction face numerous problems during the whole pregnancy or feto-maternity monitoring care at treatment. Previously Mobile devices and mobile health (mHealth) services and applications help maternal care, chronic disease management, and disease epidemics. Another work was recently done to monitor CTG and contractions of the patient during the 3rd trimester and result successful in pilot testing. Data monitored is not kept in electronic form, also a lack of real-time transmission of data, loss of data, and delays are observed.

This project aims to design a cost-effective information system for feto-maternity care equipped with some new and useful features which are not available in such existing information systems.

Project Objectives

1.    To develop a Decision-aid Information Design (DID) App by customizing the
feto-maternal information at different phases incl. Pre-/ Peri-/ Post-neonatal for Ob-Gyn, clinicians, and patients.
2.    To perform a comprehensive analysis of the proposed design (DID) to overcome the challenges in feto-maternal care by Obg/Gyn and patients.
3.    We will implement and make an application for Feto-maternal care.
4.    We will work on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
5.    Our main objective is to save women and the child keeping their health in our concern.

Project Implementation Method

As most of the health professionals in the ob-gyn department are not fully aware of the practice of technology appropriately, the DID is designed in a very simple way as it can be utilized by the doctors and other medical practitioners of the ob-gyn department easily, by making use of a Mobile Application Design and Development of Decision-Aid Information System for Feto-Maternal Care.

The study is organized as follows:

Stage: 1

i) The feto-maternal care data is collected from tests and datasheets from obstetrician and gynecology departments
ii) Based on this analysis, a survey was conducted on a nationwide scale to know the nature of obstacles, the health practitioners face during treating the gestation period of women

Stage: 2
Here we envisaged the design of a Decision-Aid Information (DID) System, which is a significant achievement of this study

i) This DID system comprises unique features such as color and graphical representation of all kinds of national and international recommended tests in feto-maternity, and baby resuscitation. 

ii) A section to enter the data is provided for a mother who has other medical disorders during her childbearing process, which will help in further monitoring. 

iii) Body goes through many changes during pregnancy. To keep a check on a woman and her baby’s health throughout the pregnancy can rely on a number of tests. Some of the tests are routine for every pregnancy.

Important toolkits that should be available at home to conduct these tests and their need is given as follows:

Test 1. Blood Pressure Test:

This test can help identify conditions such as preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is high blood pressure during pregnancy. It can affect the health of pregnant women's kidneys and liver. If left untreated, it can cause serious problems during pregnancy.

Test 2. Temperature Monitoring by Thermometer:

During pregnancy, a body temperature over 101°F (38.3°C) can be of concern, especially if it lasts for a long period of time in very early pregnancy.

Test 3. Blood Sugar Monitoring by using Blood Glucose Kit

The glucose challenge test is done during pregnancy to screen for gestational diabetes, a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy.

Stage: 3
We will create an application and implement Decision-Aid Information Design (DID), where the status of pregnant women and the entire data record will be added, and her care will be taken through that application.

The data record is obtained from the results produced by the tests defined in the second stage which can be simply carried out at home and inserted into our application for further monitoring and suggestions.

Software Development Model to be used

The prototype of DID template was made using Adobe XD, hence scrum is the preferred approach.

3. Suggested Tests by Doctor.
4. Suggested Reports by Doctor.
Etc 

End Result:

1. The Materiality Rate can be reduced, for both the mother and the child.

2. The records can be updated easily.

3. Lady health workers who are working on a community basis can help women through Decision-Aid Information System, by giving training and workshops using the application.
