Project Summary

Medicine Investigation System is a system designed to prevent iatrogenic illness and death by counterfeit medicine on a national scale. Medicine Investigation System uses and implements blockchain technology, conventional cryptography, and artificial intelligence as its core mechanics. Medicine Investigation System improves on the early system by introducing the mentioned technology and enhancing its features. These features include multiple methods of entering data, supporting multiple platforms (smartphones, computers), and placing orders of verified medicine for the user. Medicine Investigation System is designed to be accessible by every individual/group that is involved in the process of manufacturing, supplying, selling, and consuming medicine available in the legal market. Medicine Investigation System, despite making public health its main priority, also aims to tackle the growing counterfeit medicine industry in Pakistan by cutting off its supply of counterfeit medicine in the market by notifying manufacturers, wholesalers, and pharmacists/chemists. Medicine Investigation System aims to include as many users as possible by allowing itself to be accessed by a user-friendly mobile application and web application. Medicine Investating System will protect public health and aid in preserving the integrity of the legal medicine market in Pakistan.

Project Objectives

Medicine Investigation System (MIS) is a program that uses Blockchain, Artificial intelligence, and MySQL. The algorithms and the database of MIS will work in tandem to deduce the authenticity of medicine from local pharmacies, whole-sellers, and manufacturers. MIS aims to fulfill the following objectives.

Prioritize patient safety by indicating counterfeit medicine.
Alert pharmaceutical companies/whole-sellers about the counterfeit version of their medicine.
Alert the pharmacy about the counterfeit batch of medicine.

Project Implementation Method

We aim to use Flutter framework to develop our application. Android Studio/Visual Studio Code is the primary IDE that we will use. Blockchain will be the core technology and use artificial intelligence for image and text recognition. We will use MySQL for the maintenance of the repository/database for our application.

Benefits of the Project

The medicine industry in Pakistan, currently,  puts public health at risk. At least 40% of medicine in Pakistan is either counterfeit or manufactured by unregisterd manufacturers. Medicince Investigation System aims to protect public health and safety by indetifying any counterfeit or inauthentic medicine in the market. Medicine Investigation System, by using blockchain technology and conventional cryptography, will protect the authenticity and integrity of authentic medicine information - provided by authentic manufacturers. Medicine Investigation System will notify authentic manufacturers if any group tries to use their brand name and supply counterfeit medicine into the authentic and legal market under their guise. Medicine Investigation System is designed to be accessible to individuals from any walk of life within Pakistan. Medicine Investigation System will be available to users of multiple platforms ( Android devices, iOS devices, and computer sciences). Medicine Investigation System will also provide the option to place orders for medicine that are verified and authentic.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

FYP-1 of the Medicine Investigation System will be submitted in the final week of May. FYP-1 will encapsulate the User Interface (Frontend) and Artificial Intelligence, to be used in the system. FYP-2 of the Medicine Investigation System will be submitted in the final week of December. FYP-2 will encapsulate the whole system, including the implementation of Blockchain technology, Conventional Cryptography, and the proposed improvements and enhancement of early systems.
