Library Management System is a web based application that serves the functionality of managing a library. The project ‘Library Management System’ is specifically developed for GC women University, Sialkot focusing its basic requirements. The purpose of this project is to maintain records of library users, including students, faculty and staff in university. Moreover, this system serves to maintain the record of all the available books. Only the students, faculty and other staff of university can login to the system to reserve, issue and search desired books by different categories. Users can submit their feedback about library that will be used as key to sort out library issues to improve its working.

The system includes administrator who manages system and maintain all record of library members, reserve books, issue books, new arrival and all other books collection available in the library as well as keep members alert about their fine status by sending them notification.

This system will help to automate the manual processing in library. This project is aimed at developing a system that helps to do library tasks in an efficient manner. The system will be able to keep library members up to date about library events as well. This system leads to provide the users with reliability in books issuance and make a reservation online rather than to go physically in the library to search for any book and. It will enable users to view their fine status in their own profile. By using this system, the matter of time which go in searching books in each rack will be solved out and all the registered users get a platform to search any book in an efficient manner.

Earlier to this system, all the library tasks were managed manually in GC Women University, Sialkot which takes a lot of time and also difficult to handle.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the Library Management System are as follows:

• Provide user friendly interface to users.
• Simplify the search of library resources.
• System will be usable enough to satisfy library users and administrator requirements and needs.
• Allow library members to save time which go in searching for books in each rack and search books online.
• Reduce manual effort of administrator of library.
• Updated record of library members and books.
• Fats and better access to services.
• Manage library daily operation in an effective and efficient manner.
• Flexibility and speed of actives.

Project Implementation Method

We have implemented the propsed system "Library management System" in different phases are as follows:

Initiation Phase:

In this phase we have conducted the meeting with library administrator of university to discuss the major issues faced in manual working as evaluate the current working process; identify the desired state and gap.

Planning Phase:

The project planning phase results in the completion of the Project Schedule and resource planning and allocation of project.

the following items are addressed during this phase are:

Project activity planning

Project activity scheduling

Risk identification and management

Quality planning

Execution Phase:

In this pahse we have design, implement and test the project according to the project planning above in planning phase.

Control Phase:

In this phase we have measures the project activies against the project schedule and any variance if any occur.

Project Documentation Phase:

In this pahse we have completed our project along with the documentation.

Benefits of the Project

Library Management System provides an online version of library which is beneficial for the students, faculty/staff as well as the librarian of GCWUS. The system provide all important features that enables both user and admin to do their tasks efficiently, effectively and without time consuming. The system will replace the overall manual process by automation process. Library users will consider as better medium to solve their library problems by allowing them to search books by different categories online rather than to go physically in the library and search book in different racks. Notification generation feature help in keep members up to date about fine status and about many other important subjects.

Online books reservation, issuance, view all new books and other collections will solve users problems that they face during searching and issue these books. Admin find it very beneficial that makes its work easy and effective.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The deliverable for the completed project consists of a web based system that serves the functionality of managing the libraray.The final deliverable is a Library management System that performs all the required functionalities. The system fulfils all the requiremnts of users and concerned people.
