Project Title

Kinematic Modeling and Prototype implementation of jellyfish mechanism based robot

Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject Summary

This project focuses on the mathematical modeling and conceptual design of oceanic bio inspired jellyfish. The project focuses on the application of kinematics to model the peristaltic locomotion of jellyfish in modern robotics. The body will be modeled on software preferably CATIA and will be fabricated by 3D printing as a bonus objective. This robot will allow to venture the oceans like of which has never been done before. Since peristaltic motion uses water to generate thrust so power can be saved. We shall install some motors in the structure of the jellyfish and create a low-pressure region using the motors inside the jellyfish. That will make the jellyfish move upwards in the water as the pressure of the water outside the jellyfish will be higher than inside and it will push it upwards. This project has very wide range of applications. For once we can use this robot to study the nature in the ocean and better understand the habitat of the fishes and ocean creatures. The Simulation will be terrain based

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

Literature review, mimicking jellyfish peristaltic locomotion, software and mathematical modeling and using electronics to create this motion.

Benefits of the Project

For oceanic surveillance

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable will be hardware and software simulation based peristaltic locomotion of jellyfish robot. However, hardware would be terrain based.
