Project Summary

In Pakistan transmission of electricity is now greater importance than ever thought of, it is because of high-voltage lines which has to cross thousands kilometers of distance to reach a certain area within specific time period. However, a preventive check has to be done because even a single fault can stop power supply. In order to check for faults, shocks or corrosive element in the wire, the power supply has to be first cut down and interruption of energy flow is not always acceptable. The aim of this project is to decrease power consumption for delay sensitive and delay insensitive traffic. A fuzzy rule table will be constructed with average prediction inter arrival time of frame on the basis of outcome sleep time and power will be evaluated. Proposed method will offer effective power efficiency than previous inter arrival time method. In this System a single board computer will be used which will be programmed using python language, in this project the raspberry pi will be connected to the unit consist of transformer, filter, regulator and rectifier. The AC voltage of 230v RMS will be connected to a transformer which will step that AC voltage down to the level of the desired AC voltage. This resulting DC voltage usually will have some ripple or AC voltage variations. A regulator circuit can use this DC input to provide DC voltage that not only has much less ripple voltage but will also remain the same DC value even the DC voltage varies somewhat, or the load connected to the output DC voltages changes. This system will be connected with server by a login page which will have the online control system, Shutdown button if any shot circuit happens and log out button to come out of the system. This is how IOT make the power efficiency and monitoring of the long lines.

Project Objectives

According to this proposed system, automatic system for the transmission line will be used with accuracy using the IOT technology from where if there is any shrot circuit happens automatically the system will bring change in voltage, current will be detected and automatically the system will indicate the fault. Using this IOT technology security login page will be used to control and shut down the system.

Project Implementation Method

  • In this project, current transformer and Voltage transformer will be used to know the changes in the current change and the voltage change.
  • Similarly, transmission line will be connected with this sensor whose data will be uploaded to the web server.
  • It will be connected to the Wi-Fi Technology with the server which can be accessed with the highly secured login page.
  • Power supply will be connected for Raspberry pi.
  • We will plug the HDMI cable in Raspberry pi from the monitor using VGA to HDMI converter cable.
  • USB Mouse and USB keyboard will be connected to the Raspberry pi.

Benefits of the Project

Presently, the electric power infrastructure is highly vulnerable against many forms of natural and malicious physical events which can adversely affect the overall performance and stability of the grid. Although fault indicator technology will provide a reliable means to locate permanent faults, the technical crew and patrol teams still has to physically patrol and inspect the devices for longer hours to detect faulty sections of their transmission lines. But this system will provide an easy way through the IOT technology to monitor, control the issues without taking that much of time.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Raspberry pi is installed with a prebuilt server which will be connected to the transformers whenever there any problem for example the short circuit is having the output in the range of high voltage and low current and the open circuit having the output in the range of low voltage and high current range. This system provides an easy way through the webpage to monitor and control the issues without taking that much of time.
