Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryRoad Monitoring System is the basic infrastructural part of any city as it facilitates better security system for road and provides better light vision but it consumes huge amount of energy. Road Monitoring System has several problems like it powered ON all the time, accidents formed, and security problems and has maintenance issues etc.To resolve these problems we designed an IOT (Internet of Things) technology based Road Monitoring System by introducing some advanced features. This system will include automatic road lights and also weather monitoring too. In our project, we also will use ultrasonic sensor and android app for detection of accident on the road and also for security of citizens we use camera and image processing. This work is implemented using a programmed Arduino and this work achieved a better performance compared to the existing system. The main advantage of this project is security, accident response, reduce power consumption and much more.
Project Objectives- To build an intelligent road lightning system equipped with vehicle presence sensors.
- To provide a better solution to reduce electricity wastage in controlling road lights by using Arduino.
- To achieve safe movement on the road by reducing accident levels.
- To develop prototype device automatic accident sensor and detection system.
- To notify the message through android app if accident happened.
- To achieve better security system for citizen using camera and image processing.
- To achieve accurate temperature and humidity condition of a specific area.
First we study the Literature Review about the things related to our project.
In previous existing road monitoring system the lights were ON all the time whether the vehicle is passing or not. Now we propose a new system in which light will turn ON only when vehicle is passing through it and when it reaches near to the next light the previous will turn OFF and the next will ON. To implement this system for detection of motion both IR and Ultrasonic sensors can be used but in our project we will use Ultrasonic sensor because its range is more than IR sensor.
Accelerometer sensor is used to detect the accident but we will use ultrasonic sensor in our project because it is cheaper as compared to accelerometer sensor.And we GSM GPS to detect the location and send the message to the desired location.
In our prototype we show three poles which are fixed at specfic distance.we set ultrasonic sensor at specific range that when any object enters the range of first pole it will b ON and when it goes out of the range of the first pole simulatenously it enters the range of second pole ,then the light of second pole will b ON and the first pole light will b OFF and this process will futherr goes on.
At the same time when th accident happened on the road , the ultrasonic sensor and vibration sensor will automatically operated and send the mesage and location of car in hospitals, victim's home and police station.
For the security of citizens we use camera and image processing to detect and match the face with our data base.
In our prototype we display temperature and humidity of that area in LCD.
