The comfort zone of human beings is increasing, as the facilities are increasing. With the incorporation of many technologies into day today activities, life has become easier. On the other side, as far as the technologies are concerned, it also creates security related issues. For example, we use ATMs for doing banking transactions, the security of device and the working accuracy of device matters a lot. Similarly, with the advancement in technology, it is evident that skills of thieves, robbers also have increased. Hence, it is a great challenge to design a foolproof system. The main idea behind this project is to use edge computing to have a main server which will do processing for our application and will be responsible all the work. Now a days, we can find Intrusion detection System every where but they are all standalone systems where we do not have any access to the server and cannot mold them according to any specific application. Through edge computing we will make the server of the application using an embedded device which will be working on its own and can be accessible through the main operating camera rooms.
The main Objective for this project and idea is to use edge computing to make one server which will be accessible through anywhere, where we will setup the camera observation rooms. To learn the concepts of Edge Computing and Parallel Processing to make the processing fast and effective is the main objective behind this project.
An Intrusion Detection System, which we will be implementing using Edge Computing Concepts and Parallel Processing for the functionality and performance of the system. By using Edge Computing Concepts, we will implement the server side of this application using an embedded device like jetson nano . On the other side, cameras will be used for detecting the intruder in the frame and parallel processing will be used to make the code efficiency better than the applications that are available now a days. By using CUDA Programming we will use multiple threads and try to utilize the multi-programming concepts as much as possible for this application.
the first and foremost feature that we are trying to implement is the processing speed using Edge Computing, in which the processing device will not be in the monitoring room for security purposes. Our project model will deliver high accuracy with high speed as parallel programming concepts will be used and not an ordinary processor will be used for image processing but a graphical processing unit will be used in place. The second feature, will be the whole security concept, our application’s embedded device will not be at an ordinary place but it will be far away from the monitoring room, and in case if something goes wrong and our system detects any intrusion from any of its connected cameras in the mean time anyone goes and find out where the embedded device is a message will be sent to the security authorities for taking action without knowing the intruder or trigger a siren for the intruder that the intruder has been detected and everyone is aware of the intruder. These are the main Benefits of this system which we are trying to implement and achieve by using edge computing and parallel processing.
we considered all the options and derived a plan that works best for our model. So, in the first phase we will be designing the front-end application on which all the cameras will be displayed for monitoring using PC. Which will be an elegant design with minimalistic approach and simple to use. After the application design is complete, we will be doing the human detection using an algorithm by using one camera and test our front-end application on that. After basic human detection is done, we will jump towards the multiple cameras to do the human detection by using parallel processing to make the results accurate and fast. This whole process will be firstly implemented on a PC in the first phase, after successful implementation, accuracy, and desired results, that whole processing part will be transferred to the embedded device and interfacing will be done with the front-end application in the next phase to make the system Standalone System. This processing part will be quite difficult as parallel processing uses threads which have to be carefully implemented to get the desired results. After making a standalone system then we will proceed to the next step which is to use Edge Computing to make the system reliable and applicable vastly.
