INNOVATIVE AERODYNAMIC DESIGN FOR LOW POWER CONSUMPTION CAR
This research project is intended to provide an aerodynamic design for a fuel-efficient domestic car that consumed low power by the reduction of drag. For this purpose, a detailed or extensive literature review was done for knowing the best practices and most significant features of aerodynamically efficient design of cars. Two major techniques ere found:
The active technique was preferred to be utilized as it is mostly used in the modern world. A Toyota Corolla Altis car was selected to be modified by the installation of add-on devices such as vortex generator, rear diffuser, and air dams to reduce the drag of the car. CAD model of the car was built in Solidworks and further simulation and analysis will be done in Ansys Fluent modular. Then the simulation results will be compared with the analytical results. If the results are comparable then a prototype of the CAD design will be fabricated by 3D printing to perform a wind tunnel test. After that, the simulation results will be validated with the simulation results to design a low power consuming passenger car.
This project will be done to:
Steps or procedure will be implemented for the completion of the project is followed:
The project will be done to achieve the following benefits:
The prototype of the modified Toyota Corolla Altis will be placed in the wind tunnel test to study the effect of flow around the car geometry. The speed of the wind will be kept at 120 km/h to calculate the drag force and coefficient of drag exerted on the car. Wind tunnel test will be performed on both the rotating and non-rotating wheel of the car.
