Human recognition using Ultrasonic sensors
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn this project, we are making a device name Human detection using an ultrasonic sensor. Mostly the devices like home automation or autonomous car or obstacle avoiding robot are the application of the ultrasonic sensor. And in Home automation, the Ultrasonic sensor did not recognize whether it is a man, an animal or a bird. They just detect something in front and give a high pulse and it powers on the circuit. But in this, the project will tell us whether it is a human, an animal or a bird by the ultrasonic Sensor. The sensor sends the ultrasonic waves and receives them on the transmitter and then we see the spectrum that it develops. Like if the sensor sends the ultrasonic waves and these hit the body of a human then each body part contributes its own doppler. And according to the micro doppler effect, the frequency shift can be observed and by this, we can identify whether the object is moving toward the sensor or away from the sensor. Now if the object is still there is no frequency shift and by this, we know the person is standing. When the sensor sends the data and the receiver receives the ultrasonic wave we get the real-time data on the Computer and do some programming and apply the digital signal processing on Matlab to get the required output.
Project ObjectivesHuman Detection using an ultrasonic sensor.
Human Activity Like walking and running toward or away from the Ultrasonic Sensor.
In a security system or highly secured areas if we store the walking way of one person so the sensor detects the walking way of that particular person then gives the high output.
By this, we can save energy in such a way as if it detects only humans then it gives high output only when there is human detection. if an animal comes in the range of ultrasonic sensor it gives the low output.
We can differentiate among two humans by their walking styles
Project Implementation MethodFirst, the sensor configuration, to get the data from the sensor on to the computer by some interface e,g Arduino, DAC (Digital to Analogue converter) and connecting it to the computer. Then After getting the real-time data onto the computer, we can get data in the MATLAB. Then apply a Neural Networks scheme on the obtained signal from the sensor using digital signal processing concepts and generate the required output.
