Parents are very much conscious about their children’s safety in schools. In certain situations parents do not know when and with whom their children reach and leave the school. Sometimes many incidents can happen just like kidnapping or their child has an accident. These situations are alarming for the parents and school management. With the drastic growth in technology, we want to address this problem and propose a solution which can notify their parents through message or email that their children have reached or left the school. The main objective of our project is to keep eye on the entry and exit of the baby by using image processing techniques. The basic idea of our prototype is to detect each child and the person with whom they enter or exit by using face recognition techniques. The prototype will detect the children’s faces and the person with whom they are accompanying. The prototype will contain two main parts i.e. entry monitoring and exit monitoring. It will take images as input from normal cameras and detect the faces through Artificial Intelligence techniques (Machine Learning/Deep Learning). The services which we will add to the prototype are Detect and recognize the children. Notify the parents along with images of children and that person with whom their children have reached or left the school. Maintain the history.

Project Objectives

We develop a system prototype for monitoring the pick and drop of school going children for their safety. The  main objective of our prototype is to authenticate the person who is accompanying children is same which is in our database or not .So for this in our prototype we capture the picture of child and the person who is accompanying him/her .After this the captured images will compare  with school database if same then system will notify the parents about their child’s exit at the school if not then system will generate an alert and notify the parents and the school management. After implementing the system we will test our system in a real time environment.

Project Implementation Method

Project Implementation begins with following major milestones. We have achieved some of them already and remaining would be achieved in the coming 3 months. We are done with literature review about the existing technique of face detection and recognition techniques these are early stages (stage 1 and stage 2). We worked on different trained models like “Ultralight” and “Yolo”. We have finalized  the model for our project. Now we are working on sending notifications to the parents along with the images of the child and person accompanied. Some milestones are achieved and remaining mile stone will be achieved in the next coming 3 months. However, we are looking forward to making application software, hardware working prototypes with cameras in the coming three months.

Benefits of the Project

The major benefits of this project are parents get the notification through email  from school that their child enters or exit from the school , through this parents are aware of the child's safety. Second most important benefit is that parents know with whom their child leaves the school.Third is school management has a record of every child entry and exit. Fourth benefit is that our project prototype is in affordable price  but it depends on cameras price

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable will consist of cameras integrated to a desktop system which has a web dashboard. Which will enable the user to enter the data and photos of the student and the person. System will perform real time face detection and recognition when children enter/exit and the system will notify the parents of the child whether the child left or enters the school with an authenticated person or not.
