Robots are increasingly being used in different fields, and industries so our inspiration is to make an Emotion-Mimicker robot face i.e. Create a relationship between man and machine interacting with humans by exhibiting emotions. It’s a type of social robot, that communicates and interacts with humans on an emotional level. These robots also follow social behavior patterns, have various “states of mind,” and adapt to what they learn through their interactions. In technologically advanced societies, robots are increasingly used in the care of the elderly. These technological devices collaborate with nursing staff and family members to form a life support network. It is emotional artificial intelligence-based (AI) system designed to interact and read emotions and social cues (verbal or non-verbal signals expressed through the face& body), making them better at interacting with humans. Face of the robot will interact socially by means of virtual device like Android tablet and it is mounted on the neck, so we have considered mechanism along with some links and joints with servo motors to implement neck movement. Visual recognition of the facial expression is carried out using Camera and display them on android screen. Camera enables us to extract data from the camera and interpret it in the platform of our choice e.g., Windows etc. We will use it for feedback for displaying facial expressions of our robot.
Humans are, generally, adept at interpreting social behavior. Robots are not. Today’s social robots have been designed for short interactions, which isn’t how human relationships work. Social robots must expand from moment-to-moment engagements to long-term relationships. Robots, typically, are energy-inefficient. Improving the battery life is a major issue in robotics. There is a need of work and research to be done to make the components of a robot more power efficient.
Without actuation, robots are just immobile piles of metal, or plastic. Motors are used for drive mechanisms, rotate their joints or enable end effectors, e.g., to lift objects. Therefore, choosing the right robot motor is of primary importance to their success. There is a need of good design for interactive robot i.e. to create machine that appear to be more emotional and cuter to build a relation between man and machine. We will use camera in the design of robot face to get feedback of what is happening around and processed the data for further decisions.
In order to make the robot more friendly and social we will redesign its facial features using computer facial animation techniques graphics and apps to look it more social and environment friendly, since it has effect on human behavior. We will design a good mechanism for a better neck movement and face, so that parts of robot move freely without friction. To make it more energy efficient, we will use good lithium polymers batteries because they are efficient than lithium ions batteries.
