The proposed project will help in maintaining the cleanliness of the city by giving alert to Waste Management Company about the overflow of dust bins.

There are 46 union council (UC) in Rawalpindi. Each UC have multiple dustbins placed in the main street which are under the supervision of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC).  RWMC follows the fixed schedule to collect the garbage of dustbins. Sometimes dustbins fills and overflows which causes pollution, spread of diseases and bad odor. There is no smart system that can give alert about dustbin location and status (overfilled) to complete their task.

To resolve this problem, we have proposed a smart system “(iGarb0)” that will give alert about status of dustbins and location. This system will be web and mobile based application which will use NodeMCU, Load Cells, and HX711 sensors to give alert to admin to control the situation of dustbins overflow.  The admin can monitor and check the status of dustbins. He can assign the tasks to employees and can monitor their progress of the day. The employees can get the alerts of their assigned locations using mobile application. The citizens can register a complaint about the status of dustbins if not cleaned/ overfilled by the concerned department. This project has the following objectives:

  • To ensure the protection of environment through an effective and smart waste management system.
  • To eliminate the burden of spreadable diseases like    Malaria.
  • To halt the burning of extra waste to minimize the smog.
  • To optimize the schedule and route for collecting the garbage.
