eCon is the IoT base computing system that will provide remote control of the mini-grid to the administration and the client. The software will provide a power management plan, time of use energy arbitrage, 24/7 monitoring of power & health and fault detection.
The eCon is to provide insurance of the solar system to the customer by continuously monitoring its components remotely, this helps to identify the faults with the help of data analytics to prevent it from the system crashes. A better User Interface enables the administrator and the user to understand, inspect their mini-grids more efficiently.
eCON consists of five main features which are as follows: -
To reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the world needs to transform the global energy system. The sustainable power source is an answer. Solar systems are perhaps the best model but it tends to be deployed in remote regions on account of that element physical inspection and monitoring isn't possible by the organizations which create a major gap in implementation which can be filled by remote monitoring. With our project clients can deal with their solar systems through the mobile interface.
The project is divided into three parts which are IoT device, web app, and a cloud platform to connect the first two.
For IoT device, a Raspberry Pie 3 is used to collect energy data from the inverter of the solar system, performing some analytics then data is compressed to reduce message size before sending to the cloud.
Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and IoT Central act as a mediator. Grid asset maintenance, Energy optimization load balancing, analyzing energy predicting, data management are the functions to be done on the cloud.
Progressive Web App (PWA) realtime React.js app which is connected with the cloud will be created to provide the visualization of data with the help of graphs and interface to manage and maintain the assets.
