Project Summary

UPC (Universal Product Code)/EAN became essential elements in sales and products services due to importance of keeping records of all items in on place. For this purpose, there are many methods implemented to make the barcode reading process became easier to users. This project is to develop a UPC recognition system by using image processing. The system will be able to read barcode/QR/EAN through an image and the system capable to capture the image by using a camera by user and on point of sale (POS) by Scanner to that either product is original or fake. This project will be using Flutter, Dart, and other tools for client-side and server-side software program to develop the system and it will integrate with camera. System will analyse the image and then display on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) the barcode type, data and size of the image. System is designed to recognize different types of barcode and display the data once the barcode image is scanned. System also is to provide convenience way of observing data from the barcode with lower costing compared by using the electronic barcode scanners. This system can be used anytime and anywhere by the user who likes to observe the data represented by the barcode numbers without going any places providing the barcode scanner services. As the result, the project has been developed smoothly and perfectly. For the future, system development we will enhance our application according to users need. 

Project Objectives

Prodify is new and updated application which can scan any product and provide every single information, which we dont find on other apps, but there are many more possibilities with Prodify and interesting ways to use them e.g. with Prodify we can differentiate between counterfeit products which are widely used in market and their economic impact is too real. Novelty of our product is that with Prodify, marketers should emphasize their products distinctiveness, originality, and reliability and explicitly warn consumers about the pitfalls of buying fake products that do not have the same high quality. Because safety and health concerns have a decisive effect on consumers choices in the counterfeit realm, companies should also promote the regulatory standards they must meet to develop their genuine products.

Project Implementation Method

We will break our work into 3 sections for the application. 

One team member will work on the overall designing and prototyping of the application which will cover all the structure and architecture from the designing aspects. Other team member will look into the development side of frontend development and cover all the requirement and architecture of the to put in to the application. Last member will take the responsibility to complete the backend and database work to finish the project on the given time.

The documentation of the project will be discussed and written by all the team member to know the overall architecture of the system. All the divided work between the team members will take more than 3 to 4 months to fulfil the need and work of the project.

Prodify is a best barcode scanner app for open market users, traveler, tourist etc. to scan products and help you to provide original item or food of the goods while shopping from any market. If you want to scan any barcode lines, then choose this Prodify app that read barcode easily. Our main features are to allow the user to scan any product and check whether it is authentic or fake.

User cannot run the application without having an internet connection. User must have to connect with the proper internet connection. Application will not be run if the user is not registered in the application. User Current location must be on while using the application. 

There is no real world application currently same as our application. There are many other application, which only scan the barcode and give user about the ingredient details of the project.  

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Technical complexity of our application is if the generated UPC is miss matching with other product then there can be conflict between two UPC of different products. User cannot run the application without having an internet connection. User must have to connect with the proper internet connection. The threat is that the bar Code could have a malicious URL embedded in it that takes you to site malware that can be, unbeknownst to you, installed on your mobile device.
