Project Summary

We all know that a person’s decision to donate blood saves lives, every minute of a day someone needs blood whether they are surgery and transplant patients or are accident and burn victims. The person in need of blood makes a lot of appeal for blood around, which takes time and due to unavailability of data the donor couldn’t contact one so finding a donor in real-time is actually a struggling task.
Keeping that in consideration we observed the need of lifesaving application. This application will connect blood donors and recipients in the fastest and easiest way. It searches and notifies the blood donor to the person in need of blood. Users can select any location and the application will search for a donor in a nearby area, and the application will connect the donors in real-time which increases the possibility of saving lives and also decreases shortage of blood.

Project Objectives

Following are the objectives of our application:

• Facilitating the community is the foremost goal of this proposed system. 
• The system aims to save lives in the simplest and easiest way so we will create a database of the people who have registered themselves as donors with their details and respective blood groups.
• The donor would get notified whenever any recipient requests a particular blood category on behalf of anyone. 
• The donors willing to donate will accept the request ensuring their availability so the user will be able to track the donor. 
• In this way, it encourages, motivates and inspires potential and existing donors. The platform to make the donation process more convenient and the experience more rewarding.

Project Implementation Method

The approach that we are using for this application is agile methodology as it provides a way to manage a project in a better way by breaking it up into several phases. Our project motivates innovation so when the work begins, our team cycles through a process of planning, execution, and evaluation for the best delivery of this proposed system. The technology that we have chosen for our project is React Framework to develop a progressive web application along with other technologies which include: Google Maps API, Firestore database, redux, and bootstrap for responsiveness. 

Benefits of the Project

1. Connect blood donors and recipients in real-time: Oftentimes people couldn't find the blood when they need it at correct-time. This app will help them in this way, the user can make an appeal for blood any time/anywhere.
2. Increases the possibility of saving lives.
3. Saves time: as the user will only have to searchfor the donor without going anywhere.
4. Actively encouraged voluntary blood donations: The system will motivate and maintain good records of blood donors, and educate the society about the advantages of donating blood.
5. Makes the donation process more convenient.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Our main motive is to deliver a user-friendly software to provide the following features to the end users:

• Registration: The users will have to register themselves in order to proceed further on our application. A registered user can both make a request or serve as a donor.
• Request: The person who needs the blood, will create a request with the blood group type and current location.
• Notification: All the nearby registered users with the relevant blood group (depending on type, who can donate blood to whom) will recieve notification for such request. The recipient will be shown that someone has accepted his/her request.
• Live Traking: The recipient would be able to track the donor with their live location.
• Post: On the other side, user can also make an appeal for non-emergency cases that don't required the blood instantly by posting it on this platform, For example: Thalasssemia patients.
• Others: Futhermore, pages like user's Profile, Privacy policy, FAQs, Contact us need to be added for user convenient.
