Development Of Tool Tracking Application and system
Tracking of the valuable assets is an essential part of our daily lives. With the emerging technology, the methods of tracking have been evolving from traditional towards digital. In any industry, which involve the usage of tools, when a tool is lost, it may lead many consequences like cost, delay in task or in case of aviation industry, it can cause severe incidents involving human lives. Our project aims to develop a system for locating and tracking of tools based on Bluetooth and GPS technology. The system will include a tag, which would be placed on a tool. The tag will be responsible for locating, monitoring and tracking of the tool by generating signals in the form of alerts such as Geo fencing alerts, alarming system and short messaging services. To make the system easier to use, an application software is under development to operate the system from Desktop computer or mobile phone. To provide an interface between the system and software, a database is under development, which will be used for storage and communication of data. Furthermore, the system will record history of the tools issued and the personnel who uses the tool.

Our project comprises of a tool, which will be attached to the tool for tracking and interconnected with application and database through network. Whenever the tool is misplaced or lost, it will generate a warning. The user can see the location through the application and can track the tool efficiently without wasting time to search the complete area around.
Our project has great significance in any industry that relies on the usage of tools and its applications are not limited to a single industry. Tool tracking system has a wide scope of applications i.e. any manufacturing industry such as automobile, Power plants, electronics, construction and domestic/personal usage applications.

It would be an active tag/chip, which is a combination of Bluetooth and GPS technologies. The system development includes the hardware of the chip and SQL based database. Application is under development process using android studio platform and for programming language, we consider JAVA.
