Project Title

Design and Fabrication of Wall Rendering Machine

Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject Summary

The construction industry has a long Turn Around Time (TAT) due to human-based work environment. Further, lack of skilled labor, increase in labor cost, and technological advances are forcing rapid changes in building construction, which mainly consists of commercial infrastructure and residential building, where plastering work is must. The construction revolution of today has made the contractors to equip their construction so as to perform the highest output with minimum construction cost. The introduction of a new automated plastering machine can help to reduce the TAT in the construction field. The construction industry in most countries amounts to 10–20% of the Gross National Product (GNP), making it the largest economic employing sector. It is still labor dependent and most of the work involved is repetitive. Our aim is to render the plaster on the walls mechanically. This concept aims at reducing the work of a trained worker. With this development, two major downsides to the construction industries were reduced, namely, skilled labor shortage and quality within construction method with less wastage.

The existing technique for plastering the walls is manual i.e. the labors are used to plaster the walls with their
hand by using some instruments like flat board or other flat surface object which are made by metal, wood or
plastic. In this process the mortar which is the mixture of cement and sand has been spread on the wall which is to be plastered with the help of these objects.

After dispersal of mortar the labor need to concentrate to make a skinny film of mortar on the wall, which has been smooth and having good surface finish. Due to which labor need to work repeatedly until he get the required surface finish.

Project Objectives

In this FYP, our objectives are as follows:

  1. Design and fabrication of Wall Rendering Mechanism.
  2. Control development of Wall Rendering Machine.
  3. It is used to reduce human work, especially the work of plasterers.
  4. Machine cost will be less than existing machines.
  5. Simple to control and straightforward to maneuver from one place to a different place.
Project Implementation Method
  1. Analytical Study/Research
  2. CAD Model of our project.
  3. System Design and Calculations.
  4. Hardware/Electronics Procurement.
  5. Hardware,Software Interfacing.
  6. Testing and Troubleshooting.
  7. Results and Analysis.
  8. Documentation and Demonstration.
Benefits of the Project

In general, the growth of a country is mainly dependent on the infrastructure, agriculture, and industry. Hence the constructional sector is of prime economic significance to many countries. In most countries, 10–20% of the GNP is for the construction industries. This point and cash saving machine, keeps up with the ever dynamic world of building automation.

The thickness of the mortar onto the wall achieved manually Varies between 0.5 to 1 inch at different wall conditions, whereas the machine can achieve any thickness constantly and uniformly. Increased mortar thickness increased wastage and also depended on the skill of the labour.

The expansion of any country depends on the development trade therefore it's of prime economic significance to several industrial sectors. The plastering wall machine will help to save labor cost up to 85%.Increase productivity by 10-15 times, get professional quality finishing in less time, reduce project cost.
