The basic goal of our project is to provide good to our society in term of health food.Our main objective is to increase shelf life of milk by cooling and maintain that cooling in tank by insulating the tank. Another factor that affect shelf life is contaminants that carry bacteria, we counter contamination problem by introducing filter in tank which filter milk before storing milk in tank. Purity of milk is another problem which can be intentionally or unintentionally, to check out purity of milk we use PH, TDS (total dissolved solids) and temperature sensors along with lactometer to check purity of milk and these sensors will help us to acknowledge when milk start to spoil.

Project Objectives

 Some of the main objectives of our project are given below ;

  1. Preserve quality of milk
  2. Maintain milk at low temperature
  3. Awareness on the society
  4. Capable  and measure ph level and temperature
  5. Impure milk can be detected in the digital meter
  6. Life span of milk will increase
  7. Capable of transporting of milk from village to city or city to city easily without any changes in the milk quality
  8. Easy and portable milk drum
  9. Reduces problem facing by milk delivers  (shopkeepers)
  10. PRESERVE QUALITY OF MILK

   We will use some features in the milk drum which will preserve the quality of milk.It means that we will implant some sensors like temperature sensors,flow sensor and some others which will gives reading on the digital meter as output.

Maintain milk at low temperature

   To increase the life time of milk in every seasons that is in summer,winter autumn or spring we should consider the temperature of milk.So due to this purpose we will make such type of drum which will maintain milk at  low temperature . Normally the milk life in summer is approximately  four hours ( 4 hr ) and in winter it is eight hour ( 8 hr ) . Approximately when  milk  temperature  exceeds from 300c then bacteria multiplications starts and milk get fester.

 1.Awareness on the society

 We will make such type of drum  by the help of which people will familiar with milk quality and this milk drum will unable the customer that the milk they buy is capable of drinking.

2. Capable  Of  Measure Ph Level And  Temperature

 We will add ph level meter  and temperature sensor in our milk drum which will unable people to know the milk quality.  Normally the ph level of milk is round about 6.5-6.7 it means it is slightly acidic .And the normal  chilled temperature for milk is 40c .So when something like powder,chemical or water added in milk it will change its ph level which will directly show on the digital meter.

3. Impure Milk Can Be Detected In The Digital Meter

  The main objectives of our project is that when deliver add something in milk of milk spoil it will directly show on the digital meter.This digital will be subjected in the milk drum on one side.So by doing this ,it will make awreness in the society.

4. Life Span Of Milk Will Increase

   Some other objective of our milk drum is to maintain milk at low temperature which will not increases bacterial multiplication ,hence life time of milk will increases.

5. Capable Of Transporting Of Milk From Village To City Or City To City Easily Without Any Changes In The Milk Quality

  As we know that major or big cattle farms are far away from delivery point and we already mentioned milk spoil temperature in summer and in winter. So our one aim  of this objective is to make such type of  drum which will easily deliver milk at any place without adding ice or chemical in the milk.

Project Implementation Method

After designing and fabricating the project we will test the project according to our requirements. After getting desire results we will start commercialization of our project by visiting several places where educated peoples are living because only educated and high standard peoples can get our idea they are aware of the diseases and are very health conscious so convincing them will be an easy task for us. Firstly we will talk about the diseases rises from the milk due to the reaction with the conservative tank material and the multiplication of bacteria in milk as the milk out from the animal and if not store at 4oC the life of milk is only 4 hours in summer if not boil and upto 8 hours in winter. But still the milk is spoiled about 40-50% due to multiplication of bacteria if we didnt boil it with in 2,3 hours in summer.

            We will provide them some pictorial evidences and tell the peoples about the affect cause by local transport system. We will show them by comparing the local versus Advance transport system advantages like clean and unhygienic, preserved, not directly opened to environment, maintained on proper temperature, use of food graded material, keeping it on temperature that is less than temperature on which bacterias start affecting, Hopefully peoples will force the person from which they are purchasing milk to use the Advance Milk Transportation Tank. 

Benefits of the Project

1. SHELF LIFE INCREASE:

Keep Milk Fresh. Adding a teaspoon of baking soda or a pinch of salt to a carton of milk as soon as you open it will keep it fresh for a week or so past its expiration date

2. CLEAN MILK:

'Clean milk' refers to raw milk obtained from healthy animals, that has been produced and handled under hygienic conditions, it should contain very small number of harmless bacteria, it should be free from hazardous chemical residues.

3. FREE FROM IMPURUTIES:

Common parameters that are checked to evaluate milk quality are- fat percentage, SNF (Solid-not-Fat) percentage, protein content and freezing.

4. USE OF DIFFERENT PARAMETERS:

The main aspects concerning raw milk selection criteria such as : antibiotic test, temperature, bacteria, organoleptic properties , acidity, somatic cell count , but also main milk components such as water, butterfat , total solids, protein, lactose , solids non fats , minerals, acids have been approached .

5. DETECTION OF PARAMETERS:

Change in parameters of meters install in milk transportation system detect change in spoilage of milk.

6. DETECT WATER IN MILK:

A lactometer is an instrument that is used to check for the purity of milk by measuring its density. An instrument to find out the content of the water in the milk or to test the richness of the milk is thus termed as 'lactometers'.

The lactometer works on the principle of gravity of milk.

7. LOWERING TEMPERATURE OF MILK:

Bacteria in milk will grow minimally below 45 F. However, temperatures well below 40 F are necessary to protect the milk's quality. It is critical that these temperatures be maintained through warehousing, distribution, delivery and storage.

8.INSULATION OF MILK TANK:

 A layer of insulation covers the exterior of the milk tank and the cooling lines, with an exterior metal shell over the insulation.

9. CONTROL VALVE:

A dairy also has conduit systems for other media such as water, steam, ... The valve control unit is fitted on the top of the valve actuator. ... The modern top units can be used

10. EASILY MANAGEABLE:

The tanks are easily manageable on motor cycle and bicycle to transport milk from dairy farms to their destinations.

11. MATERIAL SELECTION:

Material for tank is stainless steel which is a standard food graded matial.

12. USE OF FILTERS:

 The purpose of filtration is to separate any solid particles suspended in the milk before it reaches the bulk tank.

13. COST IS AFFORDABLE:

The cost of tank is easily affordable to milk suppliers according to the gauges that are installed in tank

Material:

Stainless Steel: For external and Internal Cavity and for Ice cartridge, it is food graded material widely used in food processing plants.

Polyurethane rigid foam: Insulating material in between outer casing and inner.

Controller, Sensors and Display:

Solenoid Valve

            We use all these sensors and control them by Arduino UNO controller and display values on LCD. We control flow with electric solenoid valve which will close and open according to instruction given or input on LCD. Flow sensor will sense amount of liquid flowing and through controller solenoid valve will close when desired amount of milk flowed from tank.

            PH, TDS and Temperature sensor will alert us when critical value change is observed on which milk can be spoiled or impurity of milk can be identified. Lactometer will show the amount of water in milk.
