In today?s fast going world we need such an automobile which produces a good amount of power so in order to compel to this situation engineers have introduced turbo chargers. The procedure is quiet simple the engine works efficiently by using a TURBOCHARGER also we want to design such a turbo charge

Project Summary

In today’s fast going world we need such an automobile which produces a good amount of power so in order to compel to this situation engineers have introduced turbo chargers. The procedure is quiet simple the engine works efficiently by using a TURBOCHARGER also we want to design such a turbo charger whose maintenance is easy whose parts like bearing, impeller, compressor wheel etc. can be easily connected to each other and cost low on maintenance  , as the down models of turbo chargers had a lot of issues in them . If any bearing or shaft is broken the whole turbocharger is useless so the person needs to buy a new one. The new model modifies these parameters. A turbocharger is basically a device that improves the efficiency of an engine by supplying compressed air into the cylinder by use of a turbine that rotates with the help of exhaust .this further helps to increase the volumetric efficiency of the engine .so we will model all component on a Solid works .and we will do a validation by using three software as discussed below .we will perform a CFD analysis on Ansys by using a fluent. Ansys is a Mechanical finite element analysis software that we will use to simulate computer models of fluid flow, heat transfer of structures, electronics, or machine components for analyzing the strength, toughness, elasticity, temperature distribution. Another software is also used in this project is RICARDO WAVE that works on thermodynamics cycles. WAVE simulation software solves the 1D form of the Naiver-Stokes equations governing the transfer of mass, momentum, and energy for compressible gas flows and includes sub-models for combustion and emissions. Hence a three-cylinder 1.0-liter engine, including a turbocharged version with 68 PS (50 kW) and diesel and turbo-diesel versions of Daihatsu Charade are attached to test bench that test bench available in our lab. So we will compare its power with turbocharged and without turbocharged and also we will do a validation by using these two analysis software as discussed before.

Project Objectives

1) Model all parts of the turbocharger and generate a 2-D drawing of all parts.

2)DO a CFD analysis on ANSYS by using  CFX  or fluent.

3)use both types of mesh analysis Fluent is capable of handling polyhedral mesh and cutcell meshes while CFX sticks to just the traditional tetra and Hexa mesh topologies.

4)Apply the real-time boundary condition as practically happened on a turbocharged engine.

5) Enter all the data on Ricardo wave then doing validation of all three analysis software.

Project Implementation Method

1)Modelling on SolidWorks

2)Do a CFD analysis by using a CFX.

3)DO a CFD analysis by using a fluent.

4)Enter all data related to turbocharged engine or without turbocharged on RICARDO

5)Do validation of result ANSYS OR RICARDO WAVE 

Benefits of the Project

1) increase the volumetric efficiency of diesel engines.

2)A turbo-charged engine generates more brake horsepower as compared to a non-turbocharged engine.

3)Auto-ignition achieved on time of requirement.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

1) increased pressure of intake air into combustion chamber about 1.5 bar for passenger efficient vehicle.

2) increased the volumetric efficiency 

3)less oxide of carbon emission is generated.
