In this modern age there are solutions for every problem. IoT has made access control super easy for everyone and everything. The problem that we identified is of manual lock and key system which is very inefficient for giving access to a third party having no manual keys available to enter.
There are different types of cyber locks already available in the market which are used in different organizations for the purpose of allowing limited access to their peers. But the main problem appears when the peer does not have access to the cyber key.
There are different models available to provide access to an authorized person for example biometric, RFID, Cyber key or even a Manual key holds the same purpose which is providing access to the owner of the property having a key or card etc.
The main objective of this project to make use of an electronically controlled lock with a mobile application to provide remote access to the requesting party who is not owner of the property and does not have a key to open the door. This project is solely based on providing flexible remote access on industrial areas where there is a need of changing shifts or other purpose where access is required to a third party not having a key to enter any time but only a one-time pin to enter for the first time.
The objectives are :
- To design a cyber lock that can be controlled remotely.
- To design a mobile application to generate cyber keys for the authenticated persons and maintain log activity.
- To give remote access to unauthorized persons by OTP or any other secured mechanism.
On normal working the door will be access through entering a preset pin. The preset pin will be implemented by the user. In the background we will use codes through which user can set a pin for access and can change it whenever he wants. Authentication will be done using his phone number or email. The preset pin can be entered through the keypad and it will be displayed on the LCD. Once the entered in is matched with the preset pin, controller will turn ON relay which will cause the lock to click open.
For remote access, the person will press a key to request access. The triggering of key will send an OTP to authorized user that is only eligible for a fraction of time say one minute. Authorized user will forward the OTP to the person requesting access. Since remote access has been requested, the system requirement will shift from preset pin to OTP. If the entered OTP happens to be correct, controller will turn ON the relay which will cause the lock to click open.
There are many industries in remote areas like sui southern gas company SSGC who can use this cyber lock to provide remote access to workers. For manual key holding we still need watchmans for such areas and these people live there without much necessities of life. This lock can help replace that issue. People can use this lock in their homes since its cheap and efficient. They can provide remote access to someone to whom they only want to give temporary access like their relative of friends. These locks are veru suitable for shared apartments and hostels where someone sometimes forget the key or they have someone came over while they are not home or at home. Basically this lock is for everyone, its for common man so it has a very wide scope of implementation areas.
The lock will contain the circuitery enclosed in a box. The box will contain a keypad and LCD display. We are going to install the lock in a wooden cabinate for demonstration.
