Project Area of Specialization BlockchainProject SummaryIn this project, we intend to develop a decentralized trusted system for issuance, maintenance, information sharing and verification of education certificates of students by employing the Distributed Ledge Technology – Blockchain. The idea is to provide a decentralized platform to collaborating education institutions to share information about academic credentials of their students and graduates while ensuring protection against falsified credentials. For this, we will use the Hyperledger Fabric which is a permissioned Blockchain platform.
Project ObjectivesWe intend to develop a permissioned Blockchain based platform for educational institutions (universities) for information exchange specifically, for verification of educational certificates of students and to facilitate credit transfer.

Currently, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) facilitates degree and transcript verification and attestation. However, we want to reduce the burden of HEC by enabling a peer-to-peer collaboration between universities to end forgery and to make the process of attestation of various documents hassle free.
Specifically, we want to build a trusted platform for universities (federal/provincial) in Pakistan that given, the student identity (such as university registration number) and his/her university and program information (e.g., BS CS graduate of Air University) can support verification of transcripts and degrees.
