In this smart system, there will be a raindrop and sunlight sensing system, which will give a reading proportional to the amount of rain and sunlight rays hitting it. It will consist of a rack and pinion system, the rack will be fixed to the umbrella such that when a transducer receives an exceeding value, it will give a signal to the motor attached to the pinion. The motor upon receiving the signal starts rotating the pinion and the will umbrella open up.
