Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryBill to Bill changer is highly technical and smart machine capable of breaking currency of higher denominations into smaller denominations. It will help the user to get a change of smaller denominations which is not possible through an ATM machine. However, this machine can be incorporated with ATM machines to facilitate the local sales market. There is around daily 3.5 Billion out of 25 Billion cash to cash sales only in Karachi, which highlights the potential of this machine. This is basically a prototype which is capable of changing bills of 1000 PKR and 500 PKR into bills of 500 PKR and 100 PKR, according to the user requirement. The project is based on two primary parts. One is depositing and the other is dispensing of cash. The user has to first deposit the bill for a change, the machine is itself capable of detecting the value of the bill and it is also capable of checking counterfeit of the bill. When the value and counterfeit of the bill is checked, the next step is the user input, which will be given through a screen just like the ATM machine, depending on what change does the user need. The user input will be given through a screen which will consist of two buttons that is of 100PKR and 500PKR. If the deposited bill is of 1000PKR there will be two currency change options available on the screen, but if the deposited bill is of 500PKR then there will be only one option of 100PKR change. The next part of the Project is the cash dispense. According to the user input the respective units will be activated and required changed will be dispensed.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of the project is to provide a proper change to the user according to his or her need. The processor which will be installed in the machine will be given proper instructions, which will accomplish the main objective of the project. There are some technical objectives too. The major technical objective is to recognize the value of the bank note. The machine will be able to recognize the counterfeit of the deposited money. An ultraviolet light is installed in the machine which highlights the watermarks on the Pakistani Bank notes. Then these watermarks are recognized through Image processing.
Project Implementation MethodThe machine can be implemented at various places where people can use it easily and at places where people need change urgently. The machine can be implemented at bachat bazaars. It is a place which has a lot of cash running and people need change of money since things there are cheap as we compare it with malls and marts. It can also be implemented in Local markets as people who come there are mostly in a hurry, and if the shopkeeper does not have change of money, this thing consumes their time. The machine can also be implemented in ATM’s since an ATM is not able to provide smaller denomination notes. Also People will be able to use it in the ATM at any time of the day since ATM’s are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benefits of the project could also be distributed in two types. First type is where the consumer could easily be facilitated by using the machine, as they can get change of bills without rushing from one shop or person to another without wasting their time. This will also save the energy of the people who want a change of bills of higher denominations. .The second type is where the owner of the machine can charge some amount for using the machine just like an ATM machine charges an amount when we use an ATM of any bank. Similarly some amount can be charged to the user who uses the machine. These are the benefits of the project which could facilitate the consumer as well as the owner of the machine.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableAfter studying and analysing a great deal of literature studies consisting of successful and unsuccessful attempts in bill to coin changer machines helped us in creating a unique design.After analyzing the errors and issues in making the design of bill to bill changer was concluded and finalised. Bill to bill changer comprises of two main components.
1. Bill deposit mechanism.
2. Bill dispensing mechanism.
1. Bill deposit mechanism: Bill deposit mechanism involves a user to use the Interface conveniently and efficiently for getting the change as per their requirements. The machine involves a slot for two different values of bill. The machine will first check the counterfeit bill. No counterfeit bill will be accepted then it will detect the bill value. The bills to be deposited are of 1000 PKR and 500 PKR respectively.
2. Bill dispensing mechanism: Bill dispensing mechanism is derived through reverse roller type mechanism. A reverse roller type mechanism consists of four parts. A push plate, pickup roller, Feed and gate roller (defined in 3.4). Bill dispensing mechanism involves dispensing of the bills stored in the machine. The machine involves two currency bills to be dispensed, which are of 500 PKR and 100 PKR respectively. The Machine will dispense bills of 100 PKR and 500 PKR on bill of 1000 PKR, and Bill of only 100 PKR will be dispensed on 500 PKR.
