BCI Controlled Wheelchair
Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryBrain computer interface (BCI) can be defined as a pathway that enables human brain to communicate and voluntarily command an external device and generate output through actuators.
About 0.48% of overall population of country is suffering from various disabilities, according to the Sixth Population and Housing Census 2017. For most cases, paralysis is a major causeof disability. It would open new horizons to normalizing actuation for paralyzed patients.
Project ObjectivesThis project aims at implementing the research done in the field of BCI and providing a solution to this problem by using the brain signals to control the bed to wheelchair conversion mechanism of the wheelchair through the Brain-Computer Interface to assist patients suffering paralysis of limbs.
Project Implementation MethodReal time analysis and classification of the EEG signals using raw data from the headsets will also be done to implement BCI on a bed-cum-wheelchair mechanism. Two movements have been associated with the classes to control motion of the wheelchair. For this purpose, a microcontroller will be used that will receive input from the output data of the classified signals; which would be then used to control the required motors.
Benefits of the ProjectIt is a research based project which would require manipulation with respect to each subject. Our projects domain is project improvement and efficiency enhancement and can be used by the beneficiary once the required efficiency is obtained to ensure their safety.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable-Implementation of binary classification on standard EEG benchmark data sets.
-Real-time classification and its application on the wheelchair to bed conversion mechanism.
-Classification of multi class EEG signal datasets(in case of DL mode).
