Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe purpose of making this project is that in the current era many new technologies are been manufactured in order to make human life easy and to fulfill particular tasks. Our HTOL and VTOL craft will play a vital role in drone industry. The technology we are using is unique in Pakistan as no such drones in market are present that can takeoff horizontally and vertically. Further the use of thermal camera will also help in identifying and speculating a particular area, such drone is present in our country but is only limited to military purpose. So are goal is to make this craft handy cap for civilian, industries, military purpose etc. By using modern equipment’s in our craft we will be helping to reduce fuel usage as well as reduction in time in order to facilitate our clients. Following is the list of components that we will be using in creating the craft are:
- Its structure made up of light weight material particularly pvc plastic
- Using of electric duct fan
- Electric speed controller
- Batteries
- Flight controller
We can implement this project practically relating to some specification related to military operations and engineering as our craft is capable of many statistics and tasks. It can help in playing prototype of a fighter jet used by military in operation where fighter jet cannot go like speculating a damage area particularly by natural disasters such as earthquakes, storms, floods etc. It would further help in reducing fuel costs as this is a prototype and doesn’t need fuel. It works on battery which will give it a upper hand in reducing flying cost as battery would be rechargeable and would cost way cheaper then fuel.
Another implementation relating in practical life is using it for delivering purposes probably an example could be providing medical aid to slum areas or poor areas, where road connections are not proper and medicines aren’t available nearby so our craft would carry them and providing the medication to medicated people in shorter time thus helping in reduction of time.
These day’s requirements changes alternatively as many new changes our occur simultaneously round the globe so we our creating a craft that is versatile so we can modify it easily depending on the situation.
There could be many implementation of our craft depending on the scenario and condition and we could modify it accordingly to the requirements needed.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of the Craft is that it is a unique project and would be develop in a short span of time in order to render several activities as mentioned above. It would help us to implement task that would be beneficial for the key stakeholders. It would also help us to research many scenarios through air on surface by monitoring and controlling through surveillance and would help us to identify and unusual activities happening in surrounding like tracking or movement of enemies or any earthquake alarm. Basically the objective of the project is to help human life and to fulfill some tasks that cannot be done due to lack of resources or feasibility. Since in this revolutionary era technologies is improvising day by day so meet the demends we should be building a craft that would play a vital role.
Project Implementation Method- The project is based on four multiple techniques which include electronics, mechanical, avionics and aeronautical engineering.
- In this project we will discuss about two different aircraft like drone and RC plane. Then we combine both aircraft and we use different parameters like (Horizontal takeoff and landing, vertically takeoff and landing, vertically takeoff and horizontal landing and horizontally takeoff and vertical landing).
- There are 4 inputs and 9 outputs in a drone such as Inputs(pitch, roll , yaw rate, vertical rate) and outputs(pitch ,angle vx , x position , roll angle, vy ,y position, yaw rate, vertical rate, altitude) .
- In this craft we implement hexa copter which contains vertical method during takeoff and landing time.
- In hexa copter we implement (6 brushless motor ) 3 are rotating clock wise and other 3 are anti clock wise to achieve different results like (left, right, up, down, pitch, roll, yaw).
- We are using a flight controller called pixhawk.
- Pixhawk is the best controller to balance and stable over (UAV) and processes input and output to give the suitable results.
- Secondly we are implementing RC plane for horizontally takeoff and landing.
- In RC plane we implement four Electric Duct Fan two in front and two on back that rotate clock wise.
- In RC plane a electric Duct Fan can rotate in different angles like 45,90 and 180 degrees. When EDF rotate 90 degrees then craft is stabile vertically, EDF rotate 45 degrees then craft move horizontally and when EDF rotate 180 degrees then the craft moves more faster horizontally.
- We applying flight controller (pixhawk).for stability and balancing over craft .
- In this craft we are using retractable landing gear with wheel that will help craft in takeoff and landing.
- We are using thermal imaging camera that will help us to detect human and animal’s movement on land. The covered are of this camera is 20km.
- This project is use for helping humans in natural disasters.
- It has a radar system so we can analyze or speculate.
- It can be used for surveillance and military propose.
- It is used for emergency landing and takeoff.
- It can cover maximum distance of 5 km in minimum time.
Medical needs:

Technical Details of Final Deliverable- Our craft is based on two basic principles which include hardware and software.
- Hardware includes its structure, Electric duct fan, brushless motor, thermal imaging camera.
- The software that we are using is mission planners for controlling brushless motors, thrust, maneuvering of the craft.
- We will be interfacing thermal imaging camera with raspberry pi. The software used in raspberry pi is matlab.
- Ground control station is used for controlling the craft.
In project deliverables we will be closing our project with its final assembly after commissioning flight test and all security checks. Components wil be check properly before installation so that no issue occur after applying them. All technical work would be performed before the time of submission. Paper work and final documentation will be completed and thoroughly checked before submission to the client so that no problem occur afterwards. Deeds and contractual matters would also be done before handling over so that no problem occur afterwards.
