Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject SummaryClimate control is a more sophisticated form of air-conditioning, which allows the temperature of a car’s interior to be controlled within a range of comfort zone for the user. Users can set the required temperature range and the system automatically adjusts the speed and amount of cold OR hot air introduced into the cabin.
Project ObjectivesCar Airconditioners do not have an economic Climate control option. Those that do have it, have no system to judge the level of CO2 in the cabin, resulting in driver fatigue and even death. We aim to curb this by using technology and automatically controlling the Ventilation feature in the Airconditioner to maintain a pleasant environment in the cabin for the user/driver.
In the recent past, there was an unfortunate incident in Murree resulting in many deaths.
The exact cause of the tourists’ deaths is yet to be determined. While some media reports claimed they froze to death, the Station House Officer (SHO) for the Murree police station, Mr. Raja Rasheed, was quoted by Geo News as saying that the tourists “died as they left their A/C heaters on in the car, while all windows doors closed and went to sleep”.
Due to this, and the ventilation being Off, the CO2 levels in the car rose to dangerous levels causing deaths.
Exposure to high Carbon diOxide (CO2) levels in vehicles may result in unpleasant feeling, fatigue, drowsiness or lethargy among drivers and passengers. We conducted a survey and found that no (or very select few premium) cars have CO2 (Carbon diOxide) monitoring system in cars.
