Designing of ImmuneAid Blood Purifier Beetroot Syrup

Project Area of Specialization Biomedical EngineeringProject Summary

In Pakistan, several critical platelet disorders are identified including thrombocytopenic purpura and dengue fever which is acquiring endemic situation causing considerable morbidity and mortality. Although the two conditions have different immunological pictures, but both share common pathology i.e., significant drop in blood platelet counts lead to plasma leakage gives rise to shock and organ failure; life threatening haemorrhage can also occur.  Immunosuppressant like corticosteroids can be given but they are associated with sever side effects and in addition the immunity of the patient gets further compromised. The unavailability of effective therapeutic mediations for dengue and thrombocytopenic purpura results in searching of alternative therapies, i.e., herbal remedies. Beetroot (Beta vulgaris) has been used traditionally as healthy diet, it has been reported that beetroot can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure and other vascular parameters. Therefore, in the current project we are designing an Blood purifying Beetroot Syrup which can also enhance immunity of the individuals.  The rationale behind the project that in majority of the cases the pathological condition arises when the regulation of immune system get disturbed. So, the one of the objects of the study to improve the immune and blood parameters. To conduct project 40 healthy volunteers (consent taken) were selected and their complete blood count were analyzed and record the data, and then fresh beetroot extract are consuming till two months.  After the experimental period, their blood samples again collected to analyze complete blood count i.e.,  post beetroot consumption. In the second phase of the study, ImmuneAid Blood Purifier Beetroot Syrup will be prepared, and the quality of the ImmuneAid Blood Purifier Beetroot Syrup will be certified by Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR). The certified ImmuneAid Beetroot syrup will be given as adjunctive therapy in addition to conventional standard of care to patients of dengue and thrombocytopenic purpura (two other separate groups with consent). Hematologic parameters including platelet count will be recorded over a time of consumption.  After a month trial their blood profile including differential WBCs count, RBC count, platelets count, prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), bleeding time (BT), and fibrinogen assay will be examined and analyzed on regular basis and their case history will also be maintained with timeline.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method Benefits of the Project

Studnets vcan design and market the ImmuneAid blood purfier Beetroot syrup

The syrup can enhance or bost theimmunity in healthy as well as other hematological disorder especillay platelets disorder

the treatment of dengue fever and thrombocytopenic purpura can made possible naturally with less or no side effect of the mediaction.

By enhancing immune responses, the syrup can also be helpful in treating pandemic ccondition like COVID 19.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final output of the project will be the Immune enhancing natural prodcut i.e., ImmuneAid blood purifier Beetroot syrup

The final Product prototype  after pasing through various developmental stages i.e., production, and validation) and after getting health certification and design validation,  approved by Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) will be market or handover to pharmaceutical company.
