AUTOMATED STAIR CLIMBER FOR PATIENTS
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryA simple portable motorized trolley utilizing the tri-wheel mechanism to climb the stairs with the capablitiy of carrying a sufficient weight i.e weight of an average person (prototype stage) .
Project ObjectivesIt is a project for the patients who live in flats or buildings which have 4 or 5 stories and where its not a binding on the builder to provide elavator mandatorily.
Project Implementation MethodA metallic frame is used as a base of the structure, A 24V 250W worm gear PMDC motor is utilized to operate the tri-wheel,The power is supplied by two 24 batteries, The system consist of charge controller to keep the batteries up and running.
Benefits of the ProjectIts an innovative idea for patients or people with phyiscal disablility as it enables them to climb the stairs with minimum effort required and due to it's compact size it can also be utilized on narrow stairways that are usually present in apartments.
This project could be an impetus/initiative for self employment and entrepreneurship as no such product exists in the domestic market as of yet . Whereas a considerable demand exists since majority of low const construction these days for housing revolves around the flat system and as per the building control authority directive electrical lifts are mendatory for flats higher than 5 floors only.
It has been planned to market the product once the prototype is finalized.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableTwo 12V 38AH(20HR) batteries that are connected in series to provide the power.
A 24V 250W PMDC Worm Gear Motor to rotate the shaft.
A motor-drive is used to drive and control the speed of motor.
A battery charger has charging current 20A, battery voltage 24V, Input voltage 230V
Switches to operate the trolley.
