What we are planning to develop is a complete AR Environment Android Application in which we are facilitating the use of different areas to present them with Augmented Reality Environment (ARE) like we are considering the Education, Marketing and Décor. This would be way more productive to have a real-world like experience of different objects which you might have fabricated in your mind so this is the area where AR comes in, require to have full exposure.

In this system (ARE)  application, we are going to implement these using Unity 3D Engine with Vuforia AR-SDK this would enable us to recognize and track the planar images and 3D objects in real-time. Finally, it’s all about what we will be up to by the end of our development phase.

Introduction

It is all known that it is very difficult for the students to have a complete sense of the concept being cracked to them whether it is a science subject (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, etc). It is always been a challenge for the students who are new to these concepts and terminology like if we talk about the structure of an atom which is more or less an abstraction. In the same way, we have different feature in our app or you can say we can add-on by having various domains to be covered with an Augmented Reality Environment (ARE) initially maintaining a complete package of different sectors that we ought to cover in our project like, we are focusing on educational domain, home décor,  and Marketing. We are developing an ARE for the earlier mentioned domains, so that the user would be able to get the real world like the experience of the objects/items from the respective domains instead of having imagination/abstractions of the things.

As part of our project objectives, we are aiming to develop an ARE in which one could have the enhanced experience of the reality (AR), upon the emerging technology standards would be as follows:

Project Implementation Method

In this project work, we are primarily be following the Evolutionary Prototype Methodology, which is more of a design related process, which will be relying on project activities. This has been brought under consideration after studying the nature of the system and upon the gathered requirements of this ARE application. In evolutionary process model aims to develop a complete system in a series of prototype iterations.

Evolutionary prototyping methodology has the symbolic value of adaptation in mobile application development. Typically, following the evolutionary development allows comparisons to first, the second, third and then final version of the prototype which will be released or updated. This methodology is relatively proved efficient for developing this kind of project, where there is no sample or previously implemented work available to help from in development.

  1. Planning Phase

During the planning stage, it is recommended to gather the information related to the background of this project. This initial step is very much important to perform before developing the actual system. The planning stage requiring a detailed understanding of the procedures is to adopt by following the usage of the application will be of keen interest.

  1. Requirement Analysis Phase

The requirements that have been gathered at the Planning stage that is being analyzed with the help of the user of a particular domain of the respective ARE’s. Furthermore, in this phase different researches, published papers, journals and other related articles about the concerned technology are being carefully analyzed alongside the previously implemented technique in such type of project was considered.

  1. Design Phase

This phase is the broader phase throughout the development cycle, during the design phase and at this particular stage design function and operations are to be described in detail. Including all those activities of the ARE application which a user will foresee.

  1. Implementation Phase

At the stage of what has been planned, carefully analyzed and through the design phase each prototype iteration was built. This phase correlates the work of finally the implementation and developing an ARE application Vuforia SDK and Unity 3D Engine.

Usability Testing is to be performed to make sure that the developed system is capable of meeting the established requirements or not. Subsequent testing and iteration are being performed, to ensure that the desired outcome is satisfactory and end-user can use the application easily with no error/bugs.

Benefits of the Project

This intention of this project is to develop an interactive ARE for selective domains to work on, However, the expectation would be an uprising that we will be introducing some game-based learning to cover the objective of the educational domain. Our target would be the students of Grade 9 – 12, who initially face difficulties in grasping the core concepts of their subjects like (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) and way more could be configured along. In the same way, we are covering other both domain, AR-Marketing in this we would do add more interesting options to make it more informative for the buyers, something more in gaming sense in which users will get some discounts and promotions by using this particular environment. In décor of home interior, one will be able to select the furniture or another décor item by having that incomplete view of the specific area of their where they won't put that and get a better idea of its look feel of that item.

Augmented Reality is the emerging technology of the times which is covering way more areas or fields of technology. It is widely used in games and simulation applications in the educational field, the developers are concerned to make the learning process easier and more interactive for the users which will increase their interest to learn. Thus this project is focusing on the development of an ARE that is more attractive for the users who are facing difficulties in understanding the utility of the items.

Budget

In our project work, we consider an emerging technology to implemented therefore the budget would be decided by the time when it comes to the implementation phase, Although become more obvious because anything could never be that accurate but we’ll prefer to have a rough figure which would be around Rs.40K to Rs. 50K. It’s just an assumed value figure right before the start of the development phase.
