Applications of Automatic Street Lights and Car Parking Using IoT
A big amount of electricity provided to a city is consumed by the street lights. The current street lights system is manual, costly and not reliable, hence, not efficient. These lights are turned on earlier and off later which leads to the wastage of power. We are introducing an automatic street lights system using IoT which uses cheaper and less power consuming LEDs with good performance and other features like speed detection, car parking system, weather forecasting and emergency alarming system like flame and fog.
Nowadays traffic jam is a major issue due to parking miss management. People wander in search of parking spaces which are often not available. We are introducing an automatic car parking system using IoT. With the help of automatic car parking system the traffic jam will be reduced.
Our aim is to introduce Automatic Street Light and Car Parking System. Automatic Street Light System will save energy and will be long lasting. Automatic Car Parking System will save time and will overcome the problem of traffic jam.
The main of objectives of the project are as follows:
In this project, we will use a microcontroller named “Arduino MEGA”. This is a cost-efficient and a bit simpler microcontroller used in numerous applications. MATLAB, a well-known software for calculations, coding, circuit analysis and design, is used for coding. For circuit simulation, Proteus is used which is very useful software for circuit simulation and designing of PCB. Besides, different sensors for temperature, humidity, and other applications are used to make our project great. LEDs and LDR (light dependent resistor) are also used for automation of these lights. For number plate recognition we used a Camera named "Logitech HD Webcam C310".
In car parking system we will use Arduino UNO, IR sensors, Liquid crystal display (LCD), and Servo motor. For its circuit simulation Proteus is used. IR sensors will sense the presence of a car, LCD will used for displaying the number of cars. If parking area is full then a message will be displayed on LCD screen “FULL”. Servo motor is used to control barrier.
A big amount of Energy is consumed bt the street lights.
It is less cost, reliable and relaible as compare to Manual street light system. Also speed detection just using Two IR Sensors, Number Plate Recognition using a WebCam. GIving a Weather Information of Street Lights which everybody will be able to see that information anywhere around the world. Flame sensor will help us in Emergency alarming, if there's a fire on the street anywhere then a message is sent to a server room and they will close the barrier through internet remotely.
Another part of our project is Automatic Car Parking. In this part we using IR sensors, LCD and Servo motor. We also use an android application where people will able to see the Empty or Full Slots on Andoid App anywhere. With the help of LCD people will know also that inside Parking area any slot is Empty or not.
Our Project is the combination of Software and Hardware. We using Arduino so for that we have to code. We also using MATLAB for numbr plate recognition.
First of all we written code for each component and module in Arduino IDE and then combining all the code.
