ACADEMIC CREDENTIAL VERIFICATION SYSTEM
Blockchain technology is a growing area of interest for many industries and universities. As it is a relatively new technology in computer science, blockchain is a global, which is forecast to fuel the growth of the global economy for the next several decades.
Our application will totally change whole marksheet generating process. It will implement on all type of education system like schools, colleges and most preferable universities. Implementing this app on any educational system can help to reduce cost and time, maximize efficiency, reliability, and security.
The majority of higher education institutions (HEIs) keep their student’s academic credentials records (example: sessional marks, transcript record etc.) on excel sheets or paper sheets. The main objective of our project is to eliminate these time and cost wasting traditional activities and replace them with our new and more efficient web-application. This web-app will provide facility to teachers, chairman, controller and student that generate student record automatically and student is able to verify that.
Research deeply whole blockchain technology because it is new to us. Learn Hyperledger fabric and analyze how to implement its network in our project. Identify risks and their solutions. Identify impacts of our project in real world universities.
The encrypted academic credentials records will be saved on distributed public ledger thus this create a decentralized system which is a basic purpose of Blockchain Technology. Due to this the records will be impossible to hack or modify, creating a well secured network of encrypted academic credentials histories. This solves the major problems of the system present nowadays.
Application will transmit data to the server/cloud, then the server will invoke the chain code function so that data can be read and/or written to the ledger. An endorsement policy has been set for this chain code, stating that all the peers must endorse any transaction. The transactions within the block is validated to ensure endorsement policy is fulfilled then the block has been immutably appended to the chain.
The functionality, performance (stability, responsiveness, resource usage, stability parameters as per standards) and user interface for the delivered build will be tested thoroughly. The web application will be tested on different browsers to test its functionalities.
The evaluation will be done on the basis of the successful academic credentials, records verification under required conditions.
Our web-app allow records to permanently and reliably secured using blockchain technology. More advanced blockchain implementations could also be used to automate the award, recognition and transfer of credits, or even to store and verify a complete record of formal and non-formal achievements throughout lifelong learning.
Blockchain technology allows for users to be able to automatically verify the validity of certificates directly against the blockchain, without the need to contact the organization that originally issued them. Thus, it will likely remove the need for educational organizations to validate credentials.
We find that the ability of blockchain technologies to create data management structures where users have increased ownership and control over their own data could significantly reduce educational organization’s data management costs, as well as their exposure to liability resulting from data management issues.
Our project is totally based on agile model because it needs changes from time to time just like adding more peers, changing examination policy and many others.
Our website front-end is totally based on HTML, CSS, Bootstrap & Javascript. While its back-end is created by using PHP & Ajax.
Our website's database is MySQL.
We use Hyperledger Fabric for creating our Blockchain network. And write chaincode in GoLang and NodeJS.
Our blockchain network database is levelDB/CouchDB.
Our project will make whole examination department work easier. It will provide a portal for each teacher to upload marks of a student. Every teacher has its own profile.
Chairman notified when teacher uploaded marks of a particular section then chairman can view marks of every students through his portal and submitted it to controller of examination.
Controller of examination update student's marks if required, then pass it as final marks to chairman, dean and examination department for digitalized signatures and add them permanently into blockchain.
If data in blockchain requires changes then it can only be done when chairman, dean and examination department give permission for it.
Our project will take examination department of any institute to another level of security and transparency.
