A Smart Walking Stick for Visually Impaired and Deaf Person
In our project we are ceating a smart stick for visually impaired and deaf person which will help them in avoiding the obstacles both indoor and outdoor. Using this stick user will be able to do both video and audio recording in a bad situations. They will be able to take pictures using a camera in the stick and will be able to post these pictures to online server, from where the visually impaired person's family will be able to retrieve these pictures using android mobile application. The stick will be able to post the current location to the online server both manually and automatically, and the family member will be able to track them in real time using android mobile application. The stick will post location, pictures and other information using GSM and GPRS. The stick will also generate a notification and will send it to the concern family number or mobile application if the stick get fallen down which will indicate that the user or the blind person is fallend down. The stick has facility to ON a flash light if the light intensity becomes lesser than a specified level, to tell other people that there is someone walking in case of dark in streets etc. The stick will inform the user using voice or buzzer and using vibrator in case of deaf person. We intend to use object recognition system as well using Google Cloud Vission API. The stick will have different type of sensors to sense the environment and will generate the notifications accordingly.

In our project, we are using a microcontroller like Arduino/raspberry pi for giving intelligence and decision making to the overall process. For detecting obstacles, we are using ultrasonic and IR distance measurement sensors. For acquisition of pictures, the videos we will use a microdrone camera and will save them in a micro SD card. The light intensity sensor will be used to sense the light. GPS/GSM and GPRS modules will be used for tracking, sending location info, pictures etc. to an online server. We may also use some type of sensor or technique to detect water pits too. Choosing the quality and type of all these components like ultrasonic sensors, IR sensors and other modules like GPS will depend on our requirements and budget etc. as we know that all these components have limitations. We will keep everything in mind before selecting the types and quality of a component or module. Selecting the right microcontroller also depends on the connectivity, size, space and working capabilities. We will develop an android application for tracking and retrieving data from the online server. Here is a block diagram of our project which may illustrate the over methodology of our project.

The objectives may clear the benefits of our project, but here I must mention them.
In the final deliverable, we will have a prototype of our project in the shape of a visually impaired person's stick, which will have everything we mentioned above. The weight of the stick will be suitable for using and the height of the stick will be suitable for an adult person. The final product will have all the functionally we are intending now.
