The idea is to develop a device which will be used for obtaining evidence from target device while preserving its integrity, not allow a protected drive to be changed and allow read-only access to a target device.

Project Objectives

The device shall not allow a write protected drive to be changed and allow read only access.The device shall alert the user when a command is blocked, either by an audio or a visual signal.The device shall report the protection status of all disks.The tool shall not prevent obtaining any information from or about any drive. The write-blocker tool shall not prevent obtaining any information from or about any drive. 

Project Implementation Method

Our product will implement by mounting a file system on the target device in read only mode. Thus the user will not be able to write anything on the target device and he will only able to access the target device in read only mode thus integrity of the digital evidance is not voilated.

Benefits of the Project

The device will allow forensic agencies to acquire digital evidance without voilating its integrity. Write blocker availabe are too expensive and that why we are designing a cost efficient and indigenous write blocker solution.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Microsoft Windows and Linux operating system would the software platforms on which the SOUA WB will run.Raspberry Pi which will function as our hardware platform.The device will be backwards compatible with older versions of the operating systems.
