Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryHere in this project, we will make an IoT based wearable Health Monitoring System which records the patient heartbeat rate and body temperature, track the location of the patient, and send a SMS alert as well whenever those readings go beyond critical values. Pulse rate and body temperature readings are recorded over firebase and can be retrieve through the custom created for this system so that patient health can be monitored from anywhere in the world over internet. This device will also send message on the sim card without internet to their relatives.
Health monitoring is the major problem in today’s world. Due to lack of proper health monitoring, patient suffer from serious health issues. Also, most humans live a busy life in which going to a doctor for weekly or even monthly checkup is an impossible task. Without monitoring your health, it is not possible to whether you are a healthy or sick person. This problem leads to the design of a product which monitors your health every day without going to a doctor. There are lots of IoT devices now days to monitor the health of patient over internet. Health experts are also taking advantage of these smart devices to keep an eye on their patients. With tons of new healthcare technology start-ups, IoT is rapidly revolutionizing the healthcare industry.
Project ObjectivesCurrently, there is no wearable health monitoring system available that provide user a facility to get multiple things at one place like monitor beat per minute (BPM), body temperature, tracking location sending SMS when condition of patient become critical at one platform. Custom android app will facilitate the user and his/her relatives to take proper check and balance on his/her condition and monitor his location. When the patient is outside where internet connection is not available then the GSM module will send SMS through the sim card.

Wearable health monitoring system and patient’s room condition monitoring is the main idea of the proposed system. Therefore, wearable health monitoring system utilizes the three-stage architectural features, namely (1) Sensor Module (2) data collecting Module (3) android application. The sensors are wired which are used to collect data from the patient’s body. The collected data are then processed via an ESP32 module and send to the firebase. Android application retrieve data from fire base and display on screen. The android application is updated every 10 s, allowing patients to be tracked in real-time, all the sensors are used to collect data from patient. The sensors all are connected to a processing unit called ESP32. Upon attaching these (temperature, heartbeat, and ECG) sensors, ESP32 works as a heart of the system. ESP32 collects sensor data and then wirelessly transfers them to firebase. The board uses its Wi-Fi and its own processing unit.

Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe proposed prototype is implemented in the watch by which the data are collected from the wrist. In the engineering point of view, this watch that consists of pulse sensor will help in monitoring the patient’s body heart condition and body temperature which will monitor the temperature of the body. The reflectance pulse sensor module consists of the IR led, the RED led and the photodiode. The sensor that takes up the PPG signal, process and sends it via Wi-Fi to a receiver station with the help of Firebase Database and shows up the data on the mobile phone screen. The lithium-ion battery powers up the whole transmitter end modules, which is rechargeable.
We'll provide both hardware and software (android Application).The Hardware will be in the form of wearable and we'll try to deliver the hardware in small size so it'll be easy to wear in the wrist of the hand like watch. And the software will be for android phones only at the this stage after will try to convert it in multiple platforms so every kind of phone users can use the final product in their on app.
