Water Trash Collecting Robot Using Wireless Communication
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryWe know that where countries are developing at a rapid rate, a massive amount of unwanted waste is generated. A lot of which is then dumped into the seas and rivers, ultimately being lead to smaller water bodies. In our country, seeing waste management being a spurned factor, it has become crucial to create an urgency to address this problem and to come up with an appropriate solution.
For this purpose, we are keen to design a ‘Water Trash Collecting Robot’. This robot is aimed at removing rubbish and litter from small area applications such as lakes, ponds, harbours and swimming pools. Our project is a prototype that could be commercialized and utilized by various organizations, for instance, some owning water resorts, water sports clubs, water parts… etc.
Project ObjectivesWater is the most important resource for living things. So that the cleanliness of water is the basic need but water in the lake or river is getting polluted by the humans. Our project tries to get Overcome this water pollution and clean the water, which can be very useful for living things. Also, our project has the potential to become a great security advantage if it will use wisely. In today's era as we know that where countries are developing at a rapid rate a lot of unwanted waste is being generated like electronics, plastics and many biodegradable products. In our system ‘Water Trash Collecting Robot Using Wireless Communication’, we aim to overcome this water pollution our project is very helpful by collecting the garbage which is floating on the surface of the water.
Project Implementation MethodThis project is also very efficient and works on solar energy no external power supply is required. A battery is used to store the energy collected by the solar plate, then this battery will use this stored energy to operate the complete boat. This idea was the base background for us to undertake this project. The thought of easing the task of collecting and disposing of garbage was highly motivating, because we, as university students, are very much familiar with this unpleasant job. So that is where the foundation of our project was laid.
Benefits of the ProjectWater infrastructure in Pakistan is outdated and in poor condition, which wastes a huge amount of water, while little is stored because of a lack of reservoirs and sediment build-up in existing facilities. The water that is available is often unclean, having been polluted by human, agricultural and industrial waste. The pollution caused by floating bodies on the river and other water bodies cannot be left unseen. The mass dumping of wastes and garbage into these water bodies creates a question of both pollution and unhygienic surroundings. It is therefore very crucial to get rid of water trash instantly as to protect the marine lives and the surroundings nearby. As the life of flora and fauna is disturbed it creates disturbances in the circle of the aquatic life chain. The most prominent methods present today for the removal of these wastes are the traditional ones. Removal and collection of these wastes from a water body are labour-intensive in our country and thus can substitute labour work. Thus technology has to be incorporated in such a way that cleaning water is done efficiently and effectively.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableHARDWARE CONFIGURATION
The mechanical part of the boat includes the basic frame, the conveyor, the trash container, and the control box. The boat is built out of foam sheets for ease of maintenance. The boat is equipped with wireless control, power units, and a conveyor belt to collect the waste. The control box includes a motor driver and power supply (Batteries). A DC motor is connected to the conveyor for its continuous rotation which is powered up with a battery from the control box. The conveyor collects the waste in a basket that is attached to the back of the boat. The conveyor belt is made of PVC material which prevents roll back and offers stickiness of objects back on the water surface. Waste like polythene, food material, etc. is
intended to be the target. The conveyor belt rotates and accumulates all the floating refuse which
randomly comes to the fore. When the garbage collector pit is full, then it is brought back to the initial point and all the garbage present in the collector can be removed manually by taking away the collection
box. Once the waste is removed from the basket, it can be attached back to the boat for further collection. In this way, the floating garbage present on the water surface can be collected.
