Voltage and frequency Stabilization of AC Generator
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryPico-hydro or micro hydro power plants are usually a stand-alone hydropower system built to provide electricity for rural communities and are adopted as major renewable energy because of their advantages over the large hydropower plants. However, they require a governing system to limit the variation of water turbine speed due to seasonal change and variation of consumer load. These variation results in fluctuations of voltages and frequency of the generator. To solve this problem, constant voltage and frequency is achieved by maintaining the rpm and excitation of the generator through which AC voltages are generated. This results in provision of constant power for safe operational of industrial and household devices.
Project Objectives- To stabilize the AC generator frequency

- Stabilize the power to the load during increased load demand
- Stabilizing the frequency to the load due to seasonal change in rivers water flow rate
- Providing the clean energy to the connected load
- Safety to the load connected
- Providing the same voltage even if the supply is decreased
The main purpose of this project to provide constant voltages and constant frequency to the load connected, so that it is safe while working. In this project the generator provides clean energy to the load zone. It works as if the supply from the back end is decreased similarly the output voltages decrease. These types of projects can be implemented in rural areas at some kind of small lakes through which the flow can run the turbine and the generator may produce the energy, but here we are using the motor as a turbine to move the generator shaft. The motor is coupled with the generator and its output is maintained with the help of Arduino.
The voltages of the generator decrease when the load connected increases, along the frequency also decreases, the frequency would be increased with the help of Arduino which senses and then increases the supply of motor which increases the frequency, while the voltage is sensed and is increased with the increase of excitation. So, the load connected doesn’t get affected while operating, which is our objective. The output voltages and frequency would be displayed over LCD 16*2.
