voice recogniton based smart blind stick
Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject Summary A blind stick having voice technology including the voice recognition system was evaluated. The main purpose of this project is to produce a prototype that can detect objects or obstacles in front of users and feeds warning back, in the forms of voice messages. the blind people will able to move from one place to another without others help. The end product of project that meets all the goals . However there are still some considerable adjustments that can be made. Moreover, the calling and messaging system will also be available for the easiness of the blind people. With more time and resources we would like to create a custom walking stick for the blind. Project ObjectivesThe aim of smart stick is to provide efficient navigation aid for the blind persons which gives a sense of vision by providing the info about their surroundings and objects around them. GPRS is installed to track the exact location of the person and sim is placed so the blind person will in contact with its family, friends etc and the call is made by voice recognition.
The objective of this system is to provide an application for blind people to detect the obstacles in various directions detecting pits and manholes on the ground to track the blind person location and to make call through the voice recognition.
Project Implementation MethodThe smart aiding device which is specially used by blind people. This stick guides the blind people during walking through voice recognition. It also detects the obstacles, staircase, etc by using different sensors and camera. They can also communicate through sim card with the people who are far away from them and they can call or send message to ambulance or police in emergency condition. And the installed GPRS helps to locate them that what is the exact place where they are present.
Phase-1
In this phase, the camera which is fixed on the stick will capture the path and stay connected with the Bluetooth based mic and earpiece to guide the visually impaired people. The camera will also be connected with all the sensors present in the stick to identify which type of hurdle is present.
Phase-II
In this phase, the obstacles and other objects will be calculated that how much height or width they have and then inform the blind person. And also define the distance of obstacles from the person.
Phase-III
The blind person can easily call or send message to others through voice recognition using stick instead of typing on cell phone as the GMS system will be installed in the stick which makes the system easy to use for the visually impaired people.
Phase-1V
GPRS system is also installed in the stick to detect the exact location of the person and this system will guide the blind people to reach their destination.
Benefits of the ProjectIn this present study, a GPS based walking stick is developed. it is developed as a place detecting device. By using the stick, blind this stick, blind people will be confirm that, he has reached the place where he wanted to go. It is easy to maintain and very comfortable to use. Power consumption of this stick is low and can be operated easily. Moreover, it is fully automated. This stick also enables to detect obstacles in user's way by using sensors. So, it is very helpful for the blind to reach his destination safely.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe basic device is stick and it is carrying different sensors on it with Raspberry pi, Arduino, camera, battery, and microcontroller to make this stick smart and user friendly. As this is voice recognition based stick so we have also mic and earphone but they are connected with the stick through wireless Bluetooth instead of directly attached with the stick.
GSM is a worldwide technology, but it has certain limitations, such as bandwidth lag, so with multiple users the transmission can encounter interference. GSM is second-generation technology, but now already faster technologies such as 3G, 4G, and 5G have developed in different networks Limitations of Ultrasonic Sensors • Cannot work in a vacuum • Not designed for underwater use Sensing accuracy affected by soft materials.- Limitations of speech recognition system are Lack of Accuracy ,
- Voice recognition systems can have problems with accents.
