Visible light communication system data rate improvement
Visible light communication is a promising technology with a wide field of prospective applications. An ever-growing interest in Visible light communication throughout the world can be expected to lead to real-world applications in the future. The main goals for the future are increasing the transmission rate and improving standardization. In this project, we will use different modulation technique and different drivers, different colored LED sources and lasers, also different photodetectors will be used to test our hardware for maximum achievable data rate.
The objectives are the following:
We will use different modulation techniques like single carrier modulation technique e.g. on-off- keying (OOK), single pulse width modulation (1-PWM), single pulse position modulation (1-PPM), amplitude modulation (AM), and multiple carrier modulation techniques (OFDM).
Different driver circuits and different Photodiodes and LEDs
This project can be implemented on many indoor application rather than using RF communication which is very costly and hard to handle VlC is a very fruitful solution because it doesn't need any infrastructure changes LEDs are everywhere everyone can buy at very tiny cost. We will demonstrate implimentation further if you guys are willing to take our presentation
Following are the benefits or advantages of VLC communication:
It supports larger bandwidth and hence overcomes bandwidth limitation of RF communication.
VLC communication works when both source and receiver are in LOS within the same room. VLC based data communication cannot be intercepted by anyone from another room. Hence VLC provides secured communication, unlike RF communication.
VLC source is used for both illumination and communication, it has low power consumption. Hence VLC power efficient system.
VLC is light based communication. Hence it is not affected due to EM radiations from RF systems.
It does not have any health risks to human beings.
It is easy to install.
At final we will present a fully functional visible light communication hardware that will communicate between two PCs at 10Mbps or maybe more this is our rough estimate we will try our best to achieve as more as possible.
