Project Summary

From this project,We conclude that vertical axis wind turbine has greater advantages over other wind turbine that’s why now a days is widely used to generated electricity.From this project We knowing about non conventional energy sources,its types,various methods of generating power and about vertical axis wind turbine. we designed and implemented a safe wind turbine that fits urban areas from COTS components. With the measured wind speed, we were able to evaluate its efficiency experimentally.From this project,We conclude that vertical axis wind turbine has greater advantages over other wind turbine that’s why now a days is widely used to generated electricity.From this project We knowing about non conventional energy sources,its types,various methods of generating power and about vertical axis wind turbine. we designed and implemented a safe wind turbine that fits urban areas from COTS components. With the measured wind speed, we were able to evaluate its efficiency experimentally.we describe the design of a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) that fits residential areas. Such turbines are needed in regions with dense population.

Project Objectives

Survey of writing proposed the accompanying specific targets to achieve in the present study. ? To research the streamlined features of a moving airfoil (NACA0018) of VAWT in two dimensional precarious owns at Reynolds number of 1.086106using ANSYSFLUENT 12.0.16 for reenactment and ICEM CFD to produce sliding mesh ? To study the variety of execution coefficient of VAWT at different tip speed ratios and get an ideal estimation of tip speed proportion () at which VAWT7 produces greatest force yield for NACA 0018 airfoil. ? To explore the influence of rotor breadth on streamlined execution of VAWT. ? To study the effect of laminar limit layer partition on Cp of a VAWT by comparing the aftereffects of Laminar gooey model and RANS disturbance model. ? To consider the effect of strength (which is given by= Nb C/R) on VAWT's performance at1= 0.321 for three bladed VAWT and2= 0.642 for six bladed VAWT.

Project Implementation Method

This framework is controlled by ATmega 328 microcontroller, it comprises of a vertical axis windmill, DC motor, 12V battery, DC inverter, MOSFET switch, LCD and transformer. The windmill produces mechanical energy when wind courses through the turbine. This mechanical energy is changed over into electrical energy by dynamo, the power esteems are shown on LCD. The Vertical Axis Windmill converts the energy of wind into kinetic energy by means of blades, and charges the 12V battery. As the battery is switched on, the inverter changes over DC into AC and the step-up transformer expands the voltage, required to run the device.

MOSFET is a transistor which manages the voltage and after that the load is powered. 

Benefits of the Project

VAWT is appropriate for green structures. Can be utilized instead of Horizontal pivot wind turbine. Can be utilized in rustic zones to deliver power. It can likewise be utilized in regions where wind speed is as low as 4 mph In past days VAWT had to be start by giving excitation. Our project aspect is to make self starting wind turbine. And second one is to reduce the power fluctuation due to the uneven wind. so, that we get constant power supply.
