Vehicle Tracking systems are very commonly used in fleet management and asset tracking applications. Today these systems can not only track the location of the vehicle but can also report the speed and even control it remotely. In general, tracking of vehicles is a process in which we track the vehicle location in form of Latitude and Longitude (GPS coordinates). GPS Coordinates are the value of a location. This system is very efficient for outdoor application purposes. This kind of Vehicle Tracking System Project is widely in tracking Cabs/Taxis, stolen vehicles, school/college buses, etc.In this project, we are going one step ahead with GPS building a wifi and GPS based vehicle tracking system using Arduino. This Vehicle Tracking System can also be used to track a vehicle using GPS and wifi and can also be used as Accident Detection Alert System, Soldier Tracking System and many more, by just making few changes in hardware and software.In this project, Arduino is used for controlling whole the process with a GPS Receiver and wifi module. GPS Receiver is used for detecting coordinates of the vehicle. And an optional 16x2 LCD is also used for displaying status messages or coordinates. We have used GPS Module neo 6m.
The objective of this project can be summarized as follows: Develop a vehicle tracking system that in general has the ability to:
i) Get the location of the device in longitude and latitude format.
ii) Store the maintenance, fuel and location history of all vehicles.
iii) Display the last known location of the vehicle.
iv) Display the location of multiple vehicles on one map.
v) Display the information of the vehicle and the time on the map. vi) Track the location history of one vehicle
Step1: First we will ON the device.
Step 2: When the device will be on all the components related to that device will also be ON.
Step 3: It will active API (Application program interface).
Step 4: When API will be active Arduino will send data to the UI (User Interface) until we will be able to seen tracking.
Step 5: After that device will be OFF and mobile will be disconnected.
The proposed system plays an important role in tracking and monitoring of vehicle and also provides safety and secure solution to the traveler. Whenever there is vehicle theft situation or vehicle’s accident situation occurs, the proposed system provides the vehicle’s current location to the vehicle owner’s mobile. Hence this benefits to track the vehicle as early as possible.

So here we have to do two things:
a. Making a mobile app, where the live location of the vehicle will be shown.
b. Sending the GPS data from Arduino to the mobile app.
