“Vehicle theft detection”- is an AI system that will recognize the type of vehicle and detect the number plate of vehicle. It is difficult for human to watch and recognize the theft vehicle, so we need a specific system that can store some information of detected vehicles. Sub system of our project is that initially we are focusing on creating data set and training the model for the respective functionalities that are no. plate detection, character recognition and vehicle classification (car companies).

We will test our trained model on live streaming and the release no. is 1.0. By using extracted number we will crawl that number on a website for specific result for which a web crawler is required after getting the required data we will save that data in our data base and upon searching for a theft vehicle matched data will be presented in a record view.

Project Objectives

The main objective of our project is to utilize those cameras that are doing nothing but storing web servers with video streaming that are not useful. We will extract frames from these video streaming and recognize the vehicle plus detect the number from license plate, by using characters of a number plate we will crawl the web page of Excise and the data against that number will be saved in our data base. 

For example: if a vehicle is theft from somewhere so the owner of a vehicle will come to police station so by using our system policeman will insert the info of the vehicle than our system will show the data against that info if there is any.

Project Implementation Method

We will be needed a camera with online streaming option so by using the stream we will firstly detect the number plate, secondly the type of a vehicle and the model of vehicle after this we will be needed the access of Excise data base for which we will use the web crawler and for achieving our goal we are using Yolov4.

Benefits of the Project

This system is for security purpose. Our motive is to help the department of police in doing the investigation of theft vehicles as before it was very difficult for them to trace or to detect the theft vehicles so system will ease this problem to detect and recognize the vehicle.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We are going to purpose a system having a website as a front-end and runing a model on camera stream on back-end.
