It also minimizes the difficulties of traffic police department and make ease to control the rash driving on highways. The police can perform their duties while sitting in control room and can provide their service with more ease and accuracy.
This concept extended by integrating a camera with the system which could capture the image of the number plate of the vehicle to sends that to the traffic authorities.
Project ObjectivesThe objective is to isolate the number plate of the vehicle from the image and use optical character recognition to identify the characters of the number plate. Moreover, the digitize number plate will be transmitted to the next station
- To design an automatic and versatile system that addresses the issues of over speeding with minimal use of human resources.
- To detect the speed of the over speeding vehicle and digitize number plate using image processing.
- To establish the network between different systems to exchange the information among them.
- Algorithm for vehicle chassis number identification based on optical character recognition (OCR) using artificial neural network. The algorithm is tested on over thousand vehicle images of different ambient illumination. While capturing these images.The OCR system is a three-layer artificial neural network . The major achievement of this work is the rate of correct identification, which is 95.49% with zero false identification.

Pixy2 is the second version of Pixy. It's faster, smaller and more capable than the original Pixy, adding line tracking/following algorithms as well as other features. Here's what we've added to Pixy2:
- Pixy2 detects lines, intersections and small barcodes.
- Improved framerate – 60 frames-per-second
- Tracking algorithms have been added to character based object detection.
- Improved and simplified libraries for Arduino, other controllers
3.Ultrasonic sensor
- It emits an ultrasound at 40 000 Hz which travels through the air and if there is an object or obstacle on its path It will bounce back to the module. Considering the travel time and the speed of the sound we can calculate the distance.
- Ultrasonic sensors work by sending out a sound wave at a frequency above the range of human hearing. The sensor determines the distance to a target by measuring time lapses between the sending and receiving of the ultrasonic pulse.
so by using this Phenomenon we can recognize speed of the car

The system reduces the number of traffic police officers needed to deploy in the real field for checking speeding vehicles.
- Over speeding through speed tester, snap a photo of license plate.
- Fetch the number written on number plate and process the information to gain access to unique identity (CNIC number and Engine No).
- Collected data can be accessed through website which is organized to provide information about speed violations along with Identity of the vehicle.

Using OCR algorithm and the above components our system will be detecting the number from the no plate , in this way over speeding vehicle surveillance system will be working.
