Immunization safety is the process of ensuring and monitoring the safety of
all aspects of immunization, including: vaccine quality, adverse events, vaccine storage and
handling, vaccine administration, disposal of sharps and management of waste. The skills and
infrastructure to deal with genuine vaccine adverse reactions are essential to public safety, as well as to
prevent or manage fear caused by false or unproven signals from patients and health
workers. Vaccine-preventable diseases cannot be controlled, eliminated or eradicated without well-
functioning surveillance systems, which provide the evidence needed for informed immunization
policies, strategies and responses. Our main focus is design a unique user friendly Vaccination
Surveillance System that will improve Vaccination experience for both parents/guardians and the
health workers. The whole system would be an online system. The system is written in Android, java,
SQLite, HTML and CSS. Users will have the facility to log in from any place with internet
connection. After that they will be able to do various tasks that are designed for them. Users are
categorized in three groups (Parent/Guardian, Health worker and Admin). The primary target is to
focus on child’s guardian who can view their child vaccination record and receive notifications
generated by health worker or admin. Our second module is health worker. They can access user’s
record using QR code, embedded on child’s health card. After vaccination a sensor will be used to
scan thumb of the child’s guardian. The thumb template of each participant will be used to verify
child’s vaccination. The system will also send SMS alerts about future vaccinations through an
Arduino GSM module. This will make the system useful and more convenient for everyone. Online
database will be used. The system will be connected to the online global database, to establish
connection between admin, health worker and guardian.

Project Objectives

Our aim is to rectify the current polio vaccination system of Pakistan by making an effective use of
technologies

Project Implementation Method

1.Biometric Device

It is used to store the pattern of finger of guardian. The template of each participant will be used to verify child’s vaccination.

2. Arduino

It is used to send SMS alerts to the guardian/parent  about future vaccinations or other notification.
