Project Summary

This project is about upgrading the vehicles to a smart and intelligent vehicle by adding our own designed Black box. By introducing black box concept in the land vehicles, one will be able to monitor multiple features and aspects of its car. The vehicle will also be connected to either a server or GSM technology, which will be used to give an alert message to the concerned person in case of any unwanted situation. Like, in case of accident, family member and hospital will be informed. For any technical fault, nearby registered mechanic will be informed. For fuel shortage, a nearby petrol pump operator will be activated. In addition, some on-board technologies will also be introduced i.e. installing graphical LCD in the dashboard for displaying Tire Pressure, Engine heat, Geo-tag location etc. If any risky objects detected the vehicle will stop the engine and warning red LED will grow in front of driver and message show on LCD that object is detected, and distance is specified on LCD. If vehicle over heated, then temperature led glow and LCD will print the temperature of vehicle. If accident occurs, then vehicle will send message to owner of vehicle or parents or authority. Camera and sensors will be added to the dashboard for detecting driver drowsiness. In case, driver asleep, an alarm will be turned on. If the alarm doesn’t work, the system will activate the brake in sense to avoid accident. This accident avoidance system has no option to shut down the engine as sudden shutdown will damage the engine and thus will lead to a permanent fault.

Project Objectives

The basic objective of this project is save the life and reduce the rate of accidents. The main objectives are below

  • As the number of vehicles increases, the accident also increases, this system overcome the rate of accidents.
  • The product is expandable, we provide more modules according to Clint need.
  • System is not much expensive, normal SMS send charges may apply.
  • Message receiver will be alert at a time and go for help without any delay to save the lives.
  • Provision of smart-black box in order to provide the zero-accident level in real time
  • To alert the Drivers for driving safely and efficiently
  • To deploy automated action, thereby reducing the time to assist the injured person
  • To provide Smart devices based efficient accident detection and notification system
  • Low input voltage operated system
  • Sleep functionality for controller and board so that to save power in special cases.
  • Human detection-based auto-switch off system.
  • Modularized product so that can be calibrated as per user requirements.
  • Introducing a low-cost system so that everyone can afford it.
  • Fast and accurate measurement of all parameters so that chances of error are less.
  • An app-based device for smart phones and Simple mode for 2G mobile phones.

Project Implementation Method

We will implement a system with Black box information & accident Avoidance box for vehicles. In this system, we will use GSM module for message sending, GPS to track location of vehicle. Ultrasonic sensor is used to stop the vehicle when object is detected. Temperature sensor LM35 is used as an input to the system and corresponding response is analysed by the Arduino. If fire detected, the sensor reading exceed the value and it takes the appropriate action. The SMS is sent to the authorities/vehicle owner and provide the immediate help to the people who stuck in fire and provide emergency services. Bumper limit Switches are used as an input to the system and corresponding response is analysed by the Arduino. If accident occurs, Limit Switch provide input to Arduino and it takes the appropriate action i.e. send current status of vehicle. MQ2 smoke sensor is used to detect the negligence of driver that the driver is smoking or listening call or even feeling sleeping while driving. Vehicle Status LED’s and LCD is used which is convenient for driver. The L293D bridge IC takes 5volt input signal and provide 9volt output to motors in automatic scenario. In this embedded system we used Ultrasonic Sensor for showing distance of object from the vehicle and stop the engine of vehicle which is helpful in parking the vehicle and in traffic jam.  After completing this phase, we will divide the project into parts and will design, simulate, test and implement each part separately so that debugging will be easy for us in case of any fault/problem. When we achieve all objective independently, then we will proceed towards final product. We will merge all the features to develop a complete tested and functional prototype of the proposed model. Beside this, one member of our team will be dedicated for packaging part of the product. As soon as our product is completely tested, the casing/packing will also be ready in parallel. Thus saving our time and our aim is to present a complete model prior the specified deadline.

Benefits of the Project

There are following main benefits of this project.

  1.  The main benefit of this project to save the human life and reduce the chances of accidents.
  2. The vehicle avoided the accident in different cases.
  3. Real time status of vehicle is useful for driver.
  4. Product is applicable for all vehicles including motor bikes.
  5. System is smart that it did not cover much space and is easily fitted in every vehicle easily.
  6. If any chance that module fails, it will replace did not affect on whole system.
  7. No chances to collapse vehicle itself with any solid object.
  8. If any other object collapse, it alerts to driver some second before collusion and if collusion occur then it sends SMS to vehicle owner without any delay.
  9. Fast and accurate measurement of all parameters so that chances of error are less.
  10. Human detection-based auto-switch off system save the human if he/she will unintentionally come in-fornt of vehicles. 
  11. To deploy automated action, thereby reducing the time to assist the injured person.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The product is hardware based and Arduino IDE 1.8.5 used for the code and also own software built-in libraries are used to deploy the project. 

  1. The product are have functionalities to atteched vehicles. 
  2. The technologies behind the product is used Artificial intelligence.
  3. The product is applicable for all mobile phone devices i.e. Android users, iOS users and also for simple 2G supported mobile phones to send/receive SMS.
  4. Arduino own software with built-in libraries used.
  5. Arduino IDE 1.8.5 is used to burn the code in microcontroller.
