Project Summary

A drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), is an aircraft with no onboard pilot. Drones offer various functions including sensing, inspection, and delivery. Drones are applied in diverse sectors ranging from civilian to military purposes, e.g., surveillance, security, shopping, and shipping. Drones can significantly accelerate delivery times and reduce the human cost associated with the delivery. Security is being compromised in existing projects such as the “Amazon Air Drone delivery system” and Google’s “Project Wing”. They deliver their products to the required location without authenticating the user. The product can be delivered to an unauthorized person like in the promotional video; the Prime Air drone flies away before the customer even comes outside to receive his/her package. Lack of collaboration with the end customer and user makes it more vulnerable. We are going to eradicate this problem by generating an alert when the product is about to deliver and double-check verification to authenticate the customer. It will ensure product integrity and privacy which is one of the top priorities of any organization.

Project Objectives

The following objectives of this project are as follows:

  • To set up a route according to the destination coordinates in a Drone.
  • Select optimized route to deliver the product.
  • On trial base it will cover the distance of 500 meters.
  • To recognize the user through Drone Camera.
  • Compute the face recognition on AWS cloud using virtual edge.
  • To generate an OTP Code in Drone as a service.
  • Fly back to the initial position.

Project Implementation Method

With advancing drone technologies and increasing commercial usage, we believe the last mile shipping industry is ripe for disruption by delivery drones. Drones can significantly accelerate delivery times and reduce the human cost associated with the delivery. After feeling the importance of Drone delivery system a lot of positive outcomes we have accomplished .This project is rectifying the late delivery problem due to the use of air space as a medium along with reducing overall labor costs. In this project Courier  representative  are receiving coordinates from customer setting the coordinates of drone  at destination drone is generating alert message to inform the customer. Drone is authenticating the customer by two step verification  and then delivered the product to valid customer. It is  ensuring product integrity and privacy which is one of the top priorities of any organization.Fig.1.1 is  showing the complete methodology of this project.

Benefits of the Project

The Drone delivery system will be promising in providing security, integrity, and privacy to the ultimate users and as far as we know, adding up a two-step verification method for authorization of the order will be satisfying for the consumers. The Drone delivery system will reduce the fueled vehicle which is polluting the environment as well as will be helpful to control the traffic. Moreover, it will deliver the life-saving drugs and edibles in the case of crises to the humanly inaccessible areas. Furthermore, in the age of advancement drone delivery system will tackle the late delivery problem. Above all, it will lower the labor cost and will increase the profit margin in revenues.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

User will register himself/herself through Android Application. The picture of the user will be saved in the database. When the user places the order, the information of the location and order details will be forwarded to the courier representative. The location coordinates will be set up and the box will be attached beneath the drone. When the drone will reach the destination, an alert will be generated to inform the user. The drone will capture the picture, the picture will be sent to the bucket of Amazon Web Services. The detailed process of face recognition is described in the above figure. After face recognition, OTP will be generated to verify the user. When the double-check verification will be done, the package will be delivered to the user. Then the drone will fly back to its initial location.
