Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThis project aims at developing a low cost high voltage and low voltage tripping mechanism to protect the load from malfunctioning or damage. The fluctuations in AC mains supply in homes as well as industries are often found and electrical and electronic devices are so sensitive that they are easily damaged due to these fluctuations. The proposed system will disconnect the load in the event of the input voltage falling below or rising above a preset value. A combination of series resistors is used to form a voltage sensor whose output is fed to the microcontroller which transfers a high signal at the output pin to derive the relay in case of abnormal input voltages. The voltages are monitored using an LCD which is interfaced with microcontroller.

Project Objectives- Study of voltage relay and its application in power system protection.
- Modeling and simulation of voltage relay using “simulink modle” of a fabricated hardware using “proteus software”.
- To develop an intelligent tripping mechanism to protect the load from over voltage and under voltage in general.
a) To develop a tripping mechanism to protect single phase loads against under and over voltage abnormalities.
b) To develop a tripping mechanism to protect three phase loads against under and over voltage abnormalities.
- Validation of results.
- With the help of simulation software values/rattings of the components will be predicted and that will be implemented in prototype modle.
- The proposed prototype modle can be implemented in industries for the protection of three phase loads .Abnormalities in the input voltages will be sensed through this project which will disconnect the load from the supply mains and hence protect the loads from being damaged.
- Heavy and coslty equipments will be protected.
- It is intelligent protective scheme.
- It protects the appliances from the adverse effects of supply voltage.
- As it is automatic protective scheme ,man power will be reduced.
- A combination of series resistors will be used so as to measure the input voltages.
- Microcontroller will be coded with some preset values of the voltages.
- According to the preset values the microcontroller will derive the relay and disconnect the loads.
