Capgras syndrome is an obscure mental disorder which is most commonly found in women and children, in this mental disorder the patient goes through a series of realizations where they see their loved ones have been switched and replaced with an imposter when it is truly not the case. When trauma seizes a victim of this disease they go to unbelievable lengths while being in denial and do something that may cause to seize the existence of the life of the person they doubt. There was once a case where a child beheaded his own father in an attempt to prove that his father was an imposter robot trying to control his life but that was not true and the victim couldn’t accept it causing him to go through major PTSD. This is exactly why we are creating this video game, where we could represent the horrors a patient of capgras syndrome goes through, the trauma, the abuse, the denial and the hallucinations; so that we can acknowledge and spread awareness as they deserve to be heard and deserve to heal and be represented in a light where people can understand that they’re not monsters, in fact they are living breathing humans like us with just a few setbacks and problems; they can be treated, they can be saved and it is up to us to give them a way.
 

Project Objectives

our software is a video game developed to tackle audiences of all ages, particularly between 17- 35 as it is the ripe age when most people are indulgent in spending their leisure time playing video games on all different platforms and consoles. Our video game is a point and click horror game with mechanics such as inventory systems, puzzle solving and skill processing while the story plays out through the game. Our business strategy to promote the game will be to post it on steam and also send it to different youtubers so that they can do let’s plays and give good reviews and opinions to critique and spread word so that more people can play it too and understand the victims.

Project Implementation Method

As everything is being done in Unity3D on LTS version, developers and designers are bound to use the specified LTS version which limits them to use features available in that version and not the latest version, this decision was taken to eliminate the possibility of the problems caused when updating your project to the next version which can push the entire progress backwards and halt further development.

Since characters, stories and backgrounds are all original content created by our designers, every asset created is hand drawn digitally using tools photoshop, medibang,krita, jump paint and fire alpaca; using a wacom tablet. original concepts to sketches to prototypes and the selected prototype is converted to functioning game objects, which requires a lot of polishing, refining and redesigning in order to meet the needs of the product we are showcasing. Even after all of this sometimes the selected prototype doesn’t work as intended or doesn’t match the scene and has to go back to alterations which can sometimes result in the complete redesign of that game object.

Benefits of the Project

• First and foremost our project brings forth education and awareness to mental health, it's types and conditions which needs to be thought of as important as physical illnesses.
• victims can feel like they have a voice to display their circumstances through the game and can relate to the situation the protagonist goes through.
• it will also enhance brain power through puzzle solving and decision making skills as the player moves forward in the game.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

• windows will be the primary interface for running the game and will be used to provide the basic libraries for running the program and for providing the basic functionality for intercommunication between hardware and the program as well as helping with the basic troubleshooting and testing of the program.

• Direct X is used for the handling of stuff like rendering object, sound. It uses Direct Draw to render 2D game objects, Direct 3D for rendering objects in three dimensional space and sound is handled by direct sound all these are included in the DirectX package and is provided by microsoft.

• .Net runtime environment is used for intercompatibility between different platforms using the same code and for providing necessary libraries for running the runtime environment for the program.

• GAMEPLAY: when it comes to gameplay then it's actually quite simple with a dark twist, the player has to solve puzzles in order to go to the next level, but puzzles will be displayed as life threatning, sadistic plus mind boggling scenarios which will make the player doubt and think of the options provided to them making them think deeply about the storyline and be more immersed in it.
