Table Top Injection Molding Machine for Discrete Parts
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryProblem statement of our project is to design and fabricate table-top injection molding machine for discrete parts. We studied different books, articles and journals for design and fabrication of our machine. First of all, we used solidworks for 3D model of our machine. Then we did the market survey and looked for the availability of components available in local markets. We ordered the parts which were not available in market from online sites i.e., ball screw etc. When all the parts were gathered, we start constructing our machine in accordance with the CAD model we designed. Side by side, we did the theoretical calculations as well as Ansys simulation to see either we are using the right approach or not. Afterwards, we studied about our Arduino controller from websites to build a code which will assist us to run different equipments of our machine e.g., extrusion unit, clamper unit, heating unit. After the complete assembly of our machine, we will run several tests to check for errors, if any.
Project Objectives1.Design and fabrication ofMini-Injection molding machine.
2.Selection of screw, barrel, motors, platens, rods and structural material.
3.Reaching the melting temperature of the thermoplastic at theextrudertip.
4.Learning about different aspects of work done in the field of plastic shaping.
5.Checking about the software usage done to get better starting grip on programming software.
The techncal implementation of our projec are in
1. Manufacturing Industries.
2. Offices.
3 Lab and Institution for education purposes.
4. Small Scale Production Industry.
Benefits of the Project1. Cost effective
2. compact in size
3. Small cycle time
4. Fully electric
